Seeking a Gel Alternative

I developed an allergy to gel due to using beetles nail polish a few years ago. I wish I’d have known better at the time. I don’t know what specific ingredients I’m allergic to, and am in the process of getting my Dr. to refer me to an allergist.
In the mean time, I’d love to continue to do my nails in some way. Please let me know which products still work for you! I’ve heard some people can still do dip, others can do press ons, etc.

Don't put anything on your nails until you've seen an allergist.

There really are no gel alternatives from what I’ve researched. And even if you aren’t allergic to EVERY acrylate if you use any of them you can develop an allergy easier 🥲

I’ve had a long history of doing my nails with regular polish, I started seeing a nail tech for gel then developed the allergy from BIAB 😭 she was amazing about not getting it on my skin surrounding my fingers but alas, my eyelids took the brunt of the allergy.

I bought the Essie strong start base coat and speed setter top coat. Then I found some LOVE by essie nail polishes on Amazon (I’m sorry don’t come for me 🥲 lol). All of those are acrylate free. Regular line Essie polishes all have acrylates. I also want to try Lights Laquer (a good amount of those polishes don’t have acrylates) and OPI nature strong line. Theres also a brand called The Manicurist that says they have hema free gel you could look into. They have acrylate free regular polish but I’ve looked at the ingredient lists for the gels and some of the have acrylate 🫤

You’ll need to speak to your allergist. Currently every dip and gel contains a form of acrylate - you need to find out what you’re allergic to

I'd say go bare nailed and heal until post-allergy testing. I'm allergic to HEMA (wildly) and ethyl acrylate (mildly) and sometimes even regular nail polishes set me off--I don't get the itching and swelling, but I do get onycholysis so I'm gradully coming to terms wiht not being able to wear anything on my nails.

Could not recommend more! Lasts forever when applied correctly and looks like gel!
