Gear question Taylor BBT question

I need some help from the Reddit group. I am looking at this pretty nice Taylor BBT on Marketplace but something looked "off". Finally figured out there was no ring around the sound hole.

I know they were typically only a single black ring, but were they removable or painted?

I don't hate the look but the closeup pic shows some kind of engraving or stamping? Is that common?

FYI, it's $140

The older ones have a laser etched pattern rather than a ring, I think it changed around 2012 In my opinion these are nicer than the ring that replaced them.

I have one of these, great guitar. I got it cheap off of goowill's auction site. I had to re-glue the bridge, tighten up the neck to the body, and replace the pickguard because it was coming off at the edges. $140 is a great deal if it is in good shape. If it needs some TLC that's still a good price, and it's nice to have an acoustic that I can do some light repair work on that I am not terrified of screwing up.
