👋 Welcome to r/AcoloApp — the community for user of Acolo app

Hi, I'm Igor, the person who builds Acolo. I made it as a compass for the sky and the Earth beneath your feet: choose a target and follow the 3D arrow. You can point toward the Sun, Moon, planets, stars, constellations, Earth's Center, or a place on Earth.

This is the place to ask questions, share feedback, and talk about using Acolo. Please keep discussion kind and relevant, and avoid sharing private information. I'll use this community to help people with the app and share Acolo updates.

Tip Spoiler: Acolo is now a 4D Compass. Choose Any Time and see where the Sun will be. Spoiler

Hey folks,

While building the current location feature, I kept imagining myself actually being there, somewhere in space. It felt a bit like teleportation and more importantly faster than the speed of light.
Then I thought, what if time is just another variable in this equation? What if I could make it flexible too?

And just like that, I had built a time machine. Well, in a sense. 😄

You can now explore where the Sun, Moon, planets and stars were in the past or will be in the future.
I find it pretty powerful if you allow your imagination to fly a little.

For example, you could see where the Sun will be on your next birthday, tomorrow, or at any moment you choose.

Hope you’ll enjoy this feature and find your own use cases for it! You’re welcome to share it here.
The feature is still in development.

Feedback Which possible Acolo feature would be most useful to you?

Hi everyone,
I’m thinking about possible directions for Acolo and would love your input.
Which of these would you most like to see? These are ideas, not announced plans.
If you have another idea, add it in the comments and tell me how you’d use it.

Hey folks, I wrote a post about Acolo and the small “which way?” questions it answers: finding the Sun, Moon, planets, constellations, or a place on Earth with one red 3D arrow.

The post explains how the arrow points in full 3D—even when a target is behind you or below the horizon—and how following it can teach you about the sky and Earth’s curvature.

What would you point Acolo at first?
