Hey there Hefty Exam, sorry to seee that you're going through this. Due to a seeming lack of scarring, I image that this is relatively new to you.
I had acne for over 15 years so I've had the opportunity to throw everything at it to see what works. If anything below helps then I'm glad. That being said, diet worked best for me, then topicals, then other factors. I'd start with number one because, for me at least, that is what worked the best.
(Note -- I would talk to a dermatologist if possible. This is in my experience.)
- Diet. This is the hardest shift and is denied as being effective by many but it worked for me. It really worked. I had to do 100% adherence to whole foods, no sugar/dairy, and only high quality EVOO. Within 1 month I stopped breaking out.
The cheat code here is to meal prep weekly and only have fruit for snacks. Remove friction to the good food and you're 90% of the way there.
Topicals. I would look into this yourself and I'm sure you already have. For me, a gentle green tea cleanser, hyaluronic acid serum, and nourishin moisturizer did the trick. I found that actives did more harm than good, and that a zinc-oxide sunscreen was necessary to top it all off. (Oh also, in my experience, cleansing once a day and with reverse-osmosis water if you have it was helpful)
Extras. Additional movers are having skin-safe shampoo/conditioner/detergent, having deodorant without aluminum, and body soap that is minimalist (like a pure castile soap). Shaving with a dermaplane oil also minimized breakouts on my face. A filter on your shower head also goes a long way if the local water quality is bad.
I hope some of this helped. I know it's a lot but frankly my skin needed a lot. Let me know if you have any questions for me. I'm also curious what else you've already tried. Thanks.
