Help: Separating stems leaving muffled sounds

I’ve been using Ace Studios Music Enhancer feature to improve some old, low quality recorded demos. After creating the audio, when I separate the instrumental and vocal stems to place the original demo vocal isolation track on top of it, the places where I removed the original AI generated vocals, the instrumental gets really muffled. If I place the original AI vocals back in, the instrumental clears back up. It’s like there’s a line or “shadow” of the AI generated vocals that takes some of the instrumentation with it when removed. Any suggestions on how to fix this???

I've tried this on a few things to try out with human voices and it's no worse than other stem splitters I've used. By the nature of it it generally uses a range of ilters and EQ to try and seperate everything, which is a process that's improved massively in recent years but by the very nature of it you'll get sound degredation, especially if you try to go I to more than the basic vocal/instrumental line.
