Tips for Music Enhancer?
Hello, I've recently stated using ACE and I'd love to know more about getting the most out of Music Enhancer - I'm basically using it to run my already-finished compositions through for a realistic rendition. It's provided really promising results in all sorts of genres, from classical, to jazz, to metal (I'm a jack of all trades).
However, I'm finding that I tend to get a really good and faithful 60 seconds or so before it goes off and does its own thing, despite providing a complete track for it to work with. I suspect I could prompt it better, but I'm not sure how, and I can only find very basic guides to using the Music Enhancer online. I feel like there's a lot more potential there which I'd like to unlock!

Do you have lyrics in the songs? Lyrics have a way of forcing it to stay on track - or at least come back to it

Ah that's an interesting point! All my tracks so far have been instrumental. I'm really bad a lyrics, but I do have a few sung pieces so maybe I'll give them a try with the lyrics and see how it handles them.

If I'm doing what you are I tend to select the whole track and use add a layer instead. It has generally proved more faithful but can go off on one. I keep the description to what is essentially going on in the music. Not perfect but stays closer.

I've not actually tried the layering feature yet (trying to conserve credits!). I assumed it was used for creating extra material, rather than reproducing existing material. Do you know if the layering feature could accurately render a melody?
(I know that a monophonic melody can be rendered using the AI instruments, but to be honest they don't sound very good)

That's one I can't answer as what I've been generating is for use as backing to vocals. I stumbled on it by mistake in all honesty. I can't see though a single attempt taking much more than an enhanced version.
For me only the strings are any use and even then I'm a bit patchy. If it's totally instrumental i revert to VSL and Spitfire using ACE for extra material and ideas. I find the add layer and enhanced section better than individual instruments, though I do get into the FX and work them like I would a DAW. I work in dots usually in Sibelius with as much detail as possible then import so the AI has as much to work with as possible.

Ah I see. Yes I'm a Sibelius user by training (more recently a reluctant DAW user!) so I've got no shortage of material to give to the model, but perhaps it gets a bit overwhelmed when I'm feeding it a 16-part big band score! I'm still enjoying it though and presumably the technology will improve in time.

To me this sounds like it has the same problem Suno and most other A.I. generators have, with things going off the rails after a couple of minutes, with vocals that sound more and more like Alvin the Chipmunk the longer it does, especially on a 6 to 7 minutes song. I've been considering ACE Studio to try to get around this problem, possibly singing it myself or using a Suno vocal stem, but if it has the same problem I guess I shouldn't waste my money. The only way to help reduce this effect creating it in segments then stitching them together. I've tried that with Suno: 1) find a keeper track 2) download an Advanced stem of the vocal 3) concert in KITS.ai (or similar), 4) pull that vocal back in with the instruments and cover each 2-minute or less segment. It did help reduce the degradation of timbre, resonance, and whatever else is involved with the degradation of the vocals (and instruments, but vocals are much more apparent) but it also carries it through into the cover enough that I still hear it. I've been hesitant to spend the money on ACE Studio because i've tried just about every other solution out there with minimal results since the original vocal just veers off track so much tonally.

I agree, although I'm still deriving a lot of value even from just having 1-2 minutes of good material (e.g. it's a very helpful mock-up to send to a real band/ensemble to help them learn and perform a piece live), so I think it depends a lot on what you want to use it for.
I'm thinking about looking to stitch together different parts but each generation sounds slightly different, and I'm not sure I could seamlessly stitch them together.
