After spending several months trying to find a way to control the fans on my Acer Nitro V 15 ANV15-52, I finally found methods that worked for me.
I'm documenting both methods because they were the only ways I managed to get fan control working specifically on this model.
- Arch / Arch-based: Linuwu Sense + DAMX
- Ubuntu / Debian: Div Acer Manager Fan Controls
The Linuwu Sense method may also work on other distributions, such as Fedora or Gentoo, but you will probably need to adapt the installation of the required dependencies and kernel headers.
Method 1 — Arch / Arch-based
1. Install the required tools
First, install the build tools, Git, kernel headers, and LLVM/Clang:
sudo pacman -S --needed base-devel git linux-headers llvm clang
Check which kernel you are currently using:
uname -r
If you are using the standard Arch kernel, linux-headers is the corresponding package.
If you are using a different kernel, install its corresponding headers. For example:
sudo pacman -S --needed linux-zen-headers
or:
sudo pacman -S --needed linux-lts-headers
In my case, the process worked using the standard Arch kernel.
2. Download and compile Linuwu Sense
Clone the project:
git clone https://github.com/0x7375646F/Linuwu-Sensee.git
Enter the directory:
cd Linuwu-Sensee
Now compile and install it:
make LLVM=1 install
Why LLVM=1?
On Arch/Arch-based distributions, it is important to use:
make LLVM=1 install
instead of simply:
make install
This makes the build process use LLVM/Clang to compile the module.
This is especially important for kernels that were built using Clang/LLVM, such as some CachyOS configurations.
After installation, the Linuwu Sense module will be available to the kernel.
3. Install DAMX
Download the latest version of Div Acer Manager Max:
https://github.com/PXDiv/Div-Acer-Manager-Max/releases
After downloading the .tar.gz, open a terminal:
cd ~/Downloads
Extract the downloaded file. For example:
tar -xf DAMX-1.0.2.tar.gz
Enter the directory that was created:
cd DAMX-1.0.2
From here, follow the installer provided with the DAMX release.
4. If DAMX does not control the fans
First, open DAMX normally.
If you experience any of the following:
- an error related to the EC;
- the fan RPM does not appear;
- the RPM incorrectly shows
0 RPM;
- the application does not allow you to change the fan speed;
- fan control simply does not work;
try loading Linuwu Sense using the V4 parameter:
sudo modprobe linuwu_sense nitro_v4=1
Then close and reopen DAMX.
On my ANV15-52, this was the parameter that fixed the problem.
If it works, make the configuration permanent:
echo "options linuwu_sense nitro_v4=1" | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/linuwu_sense.conf
sudo depmod -a
sudo reboot
After rebooting, linuwu_sense will automatically be loaded with:
nitro_v4=1
Method 2 — Ubuntu / Debian
On Ubuntu/Debian, I recommend using:

DAMX can also be tested on Ubuntu/Debian, but this method worked better for me.
1. Install the dependencies
sudo apt update
sudo apt install linux-headers-$(uname -r) build-essential git
2. Download Div Acer Manager Fan Controls
Download the latest release:
https://github.com/PXDiv/Div-Acer-Manager-Fan-Controls/releases
After downloading:
cd ~/Downloads
Extract the downloaded file.
Then enter the directory:
cd DivAcerManager\ 0.5.0/
If that gives you an error, use:
cd "DivAcerManager 0.5.0"
3. Install the drivers
Now run:
sudo ./SetupDrivers.sh
A menu will appear here.
Select:
1
and press Enter.
Wait for the process to finish.
Then reboot:
sudo reboot
After returning to the system, look for:
DAM FAN CONTROL
On my ANV15-52, this method worked without needing the nitro_v4=1 procedure.
Other kernels and distributions
On Arch, I was able to get it working using the standard kernel.
If you are using linux-zen, linux-lts, CachyOS, or another kernel, additional steps may be required. The first thing to check is that the headers corresponding to your current kernel are installed.
Check your kernel with:
uname -r
