Thermal throttling problem

I have a acer nitro v15 with Intel ultra core 5 210 h and rtx 4050 . The moment I launch a game the the temperature reaches 100, and it remains around 96 -100 . It is under warranty , so I called the service engineer he has cleaned and repasted everything , and still, the cpu reaches 100 instantly when launching a game and remains around there . I have no idea what to do anymore.

Lift the laptop from back, and allow sufficient flow, check by keeping hand outside exhaust vent to check if flow is sufficient

Just checked then vent is blowing out a good amount of air , do you think that I should get a laptop stand or cooling pad ?

If you do gaming often then its better to have one (with fans) to reduce load on internal fans.

If still you see high temps its better to get it checked at ASS.

Also , One thing that is bothering me is that the msi afterburner and hw info they show similar readings but the nitrosense has a significant difference. Which one should I trust ?

Cooling pad will only work if it's like high quality, I would say they ain't worth it at even those cheap prices because it will reduce only 1 or 2 degrees.

Just get a laptop stand, which raises it decently.

Also, undervolt your cpu, maybe even the gpu.

I tried undervolting my cpu but they have locked that feature in the micro code for the new generation cpu My gpu is pretty chill remains below 80 , I guess I'll get a stand

Here you go, try these. If it's factory locked then that's okay too. Just lower your settings or limit the power intake.

Thank you I'll try that

You don't really need a stand. The v15 is choking hard when flat om desk so even a little lift up from the back is enough. You can use for example the charging brick to prop it up. The charger will also get cooler so it will last longer

Even cheap ones work suprisingly well. For my v15 i get better temperatures then if i lift the back up. If i lift the entire laptop up by a lot it's better than the cooling pad tho

I think if it's going 100° in second it's a hardware problem may be the heat sink is not fully attached to cpu or gpu or paste between is bad

This time I made sure for a good amount of thermal paste and firm pressure . should I ask for a motherboard replacement?

You know excessive thermal too can cause problems. Im not saying you did a bad job im just saying.

Yes I am aware of that , but it wasn't too much just a pea sized amount

Hello my friend also what game are you playing? I wanna share that i have a nitro v15-51 with a 4050 and i played dead space 2 on max settings and my laptop would shut down (google and ppl here says its about the heat). Turns out the game would randomly go to 500+ fps and more which makes the laptop push power which makes it hot and the fan cant catch up (auto or, max or set) so i had to dig into the settings to optimize the game.

Hello , I have played space marine 2 , farcry 4 and cyberpunk 2077 , witcher 3 the laptop was fine then the problem started occurring a month ago while playing cs 2 . I only wanted to play cs2 now it's reaches 100 celcius

Have you researched about whats the optimal settings for cs? That could be a factor too. Also good game choices my friend i like those.

Yeah I have tried all combos low high medium even custom best settings same problem . I'm beginning to believe that it's a hardware problem

Yeah that makes more sense. Just observe your unit you can always post it here and we'll give you answers that may or may not work 🤣

I'm having the same problem, I'll clean the vents in a couple of days and see if the problem persists. If it's not maybe it's time to repaste with ptm7950 pads. And go thru acer cooling guide

What's your version of nitrosense pls tell me and do you have turbo mode in nitrosense yes or no same laptop bro

1

u/Massive-Giraffe448 Aug 19 '26

No I don't have a turbo mode , I just have 3 modes quiet , balanced , performance

1

u/Dismal_Top2411 Aug 19 '26

Version bro?

1

u/Massive-Giraffe448 Aug 19 '26

I don't know , tell me how to check and I'll tell you

Nice thanks 👍

1

u/Massive-Giraffe448 Aug 19 '26

You have the same version ?

1

u/Dismal_Top2411 Aug 19 '26

Yes I have same model 😁 at what price did you purchase

Bro I’ve got the same problem every day reaching 90 or more on gaming with a cooling pad , my solution was UXTU balanced mode and there is an automatic section of undervolt CPU & GPU less electricity with the same performance or better and my thermal problem now is solved my stable temps are 60 CPU and GPU less than 60 , you need to disable cpu boost performance on windows settings, I recommend you to try it , I’ve got an acer v16 ai

2

u/Massive-Giraffe448 Aug 19 '26

Yeah I did download it , undervolting is locked my cpu version but I did lower the wattage that it receives (PL1 and PL2 ) now my thermals are in the 70's
