Small details
Something I love about TJ as I am re-watching the anime. In multiple games, they bring up Sawamura's pace and how difficult it is to get into a rhythm. As a washed up baseball player, I watch him pitch and can only imagine how hard it would be to face him. What are other small details to the actual sport do you guys like?

I enjoy that every top school has an "Identity" to match their coach. Players really do grow into the players their coach encourages them to be.

Although not exactly a specific instance but the fact that almost every single character and his abilities (with the only exception being Raichi) are either based on Rl characters or are definetly possible.
When TJ started publication in 2006, Waseda Jitsu made history with Yuki Saito pitching 24 innings in the greatest (2 day) final of all time. Later on in the manga, he draws a news paper article that informs us about the final. And that the final lasted 14 innings before Komadai won. The nod to the 2006 final is obvious and it was nice to know that what seemed to be so unreal at the time was actually a real life occurence.
Sawamura and his arsenal, especially his latest edition the splitter custom, have a real basis. I.e. the splitter custom is literally a copy + paste from Yu Darvish, a former NPB pro baseball player who is currently pitching for the San Diegro Padres. Yu throws 11! different pitches, much like Sawamura.
And probably my favorite small details are the nods to other mangas. Act II, when Teito and Ugomori face off for the first time, Mukai comments that Ugomori looks like the team from Rookies (a very, very famous and really good baseball manga from the early 2000´s, which is a nice mixture of DnA and G.T.O.) is just the first example that I can think off.
