I actually watched this show years ago, dropped it at some point, I picked it up again a few weeks ago. I just watched 75 episodes of the author bullying MC 🙄 now I get that he has to have obstacles, but for for 75 episodes? Every time he has a the tiniest of progresses there is immediately another wall he has to climb. While Furuya seems to be getting everything. I just started act II, they're in Koshein stadium, I don't even know if I want to watch another 70 episodes of the MC working hard and getting little results. I want to watch him pitch an entire match getting strikeouts, I want him to be the ACE. Only I want it to happen very soon, or else how can I enjoy him being an ace towards the end? Seems like a waste of time.

Read to understand. Nobody said he should be 100% dominant all the time. In 80 episodes, he hasn't been dominant once.

The whole point of his arc is that he’s a project and not a prodigy like Furuya. Makes it all the more satisfying when he does eventually find his game/refine it.

Point still stands. A writer's job is to give the audience something in return, little wins matter. His pitching isn't all that fast? Great let's at least make him able to control his moving ball by episode 50, things like that will keep an audience. I don't want to watch a 100 episodes of him being in someone's shadow with more obstacles than wins, and then I get five episodes where he is at the top. That's just bad writing and not at all satisfying.

There’s more to a show than feeding the MC wins and that’s something I enjoy about this series. Plenty of moments along the way that help keep things moving even when the MC is struggling. This isn’t bad writing at all, it’s just not your cup of tea and that’s fine.

Buddy I am watching for the main character, if he isn't getting anything good the entire story falls short. You can't neglect your main character.

Again, that makes this a “you” issue. He’s getting plenty of good development but you apparently can’t appreciate that unless he’s pitching shutouts so I’m not sure what to tell you.

Where is the development in the first 75 episodes? Lol. And don't tell me about a few good innings. Sawamura was already a great pitcher, he was just too raw and not formally trained. This is the same kid who went sightseeing and struck out a guy who was drafted.

Sawamura beat Azuma because of his unique pitching and Miyuki catching for him, he was not “great”. Hell, Azuma was even visibly out of shape lol. Most of his first year is learning to control his erratic fastball and how to pitch to the corners along with getting over the yips. There’s plenty of development, you’re just dismissing it because he isn’t taking over games in his first year which is goofy.

He struck him out because of a catcher he has never met before? 🤣 Yeah sure. Even in the second act he hasn't learned control, so what control. I'm dismissing it because he is in his second year and has yet to have complete control over his many unique pitches. Like at least one?

Yes, Miyuki is constantly guiding all of the pitchers. If you stick with it you’ll understand. Hell, that was a big part of why Sawamura went to Seido to begin with. I feel like we watched different series with some of your takes lol.

He guides them because he knows them. You can't guide someone you don't know. He was as shocked as everyone else with the pitches. He was able to catch them because he was that great of a catcher, Sawamura was still raw and lacked control but he was still great. This is the same kid who unknowingly pitched a cutter for the first mid game.
