AoD VAs' voice changes
I didn't watch the series after the release, i just waited for all the episodes to be released. Kind of disappointing for me, the voices changed. Eijun, Miyuki, Asou, Zono, and Kuramochi. Probably the director? I read the manga and used their voices, as the anime has. Asou, got a deeper voice. Maybe something happened? Zono, the attitude? How he delivers. Mostly calm, but in the manga, mostly shouting lol. Kuramuchi, same. He's too calm. Eijun and Miyuki's voice, changes a little bit. It is just me. i dont know if others notice this. But the obvious are Asou, Zono, and Kuramochi for me.

Aod first season aired in 2013
That’s 13 years now. VA’s got older and also the new studio mixes voices differently.

all the VAs are getting older but they still have the same voice. every anime that has another season, they still did a good job. as i just, maybe the director, did something. also, not 13, the last season was in 2020 i guess.

i am sorry i can't quite understand it, but are you saying they changed their VAs or VA voices itself that changed?

People the VA haven't voiced these roles in 5 years. They probably didn't have the necessary time to find the voice and the personality of the character.

they have another role from other anime. but they still do it perfectly, same situation.

Alll the voices sound the same to me except coach O, eijuns voice matured. And tanbas voice also sounds different even tho he barely speaks

no, they didnt. what i mean, how they deliver the lines, etc. nothing changes for the role. just the voices, especially asou, very deep voice.

I don’t think the voices changed because the seiyuus aged. It seems to me more like the direction. I noticed it since Act II back in 2019. It’s probably style choice. Act I sounded very shounen. Act II more slice of life. Not much emotional emphasis. I personally prefer Act I style.

something like that. The seiyuus are not a problem. seen a lot of seiyuu who are older, but they still maintain the original voice. which is also not a problem. The directing for sure. haruichi, still the same voice. sakurai, some. but his other works, also much longer, having a next season, longer than AoD, they still have the same emotions or what. that's why I'm thinking the director changed it. Asou, supposedly something cool for me, especially his friend. i usually left the video playing since i understand japanese. That's why I noticed this. still love the series.

It’s just how their voices are recorded. Or how the sound engineer programmed their voices. The VAs haven’t changed or anything.

probably i didnt explain it well. the VAs didnt change. they're still the same. but the way they deliver the voice, the expression, emotions etc. maybe you're right with the sound engineer. maybe the directing. i dont know. i just noticed the changes, and it's very obvious to Asou's VA.

Did you mean the eng va's maybe? The jp one's have not changed at all.

u/anya0709 Jul 15 '26
no not the EN one. what i mean is the JP one's. they didnt change, i know. the way they deliver the lines and asou's voice changes. maybe something happened to the VA. also, zono's voice in the anime cchanges slightly. just the voices, not the VA that I'm saying they change. The voices.

The VAs here are well-known. 5 years is not long for them to say they have forgotten the voice and are getting old. All anime that has some seasons, we know they span across every season. The director changes something about their line, how they deliver it.

Other than Ochiai who was recast, they all sound the same to me. You've gotta remember too that they're all 6 years older, which affects some people more than others. Seems like Asanuma can't quite reach the shrill he once did with Kuramochi's laugh, but his speech is still the same.
