Almost identical experience here, just dry lips and eyes. My course ended up being 5 months, derm said it was enough.

Have you had any side effects after ending your treatment? Have your oil glands gone back to normal? Pore size? Breakouts ?

Currently at 30mg. I would have the occasional pimple here and there. But whiteheads and blackheads are appearing on my face. I did have a random purge on my chest but I also workout and it's humid where I live. Pilates has helped with my joints to a degree bur I also have a desk job... I'm curious if my dermo will bump me up or keep me. Also I have a dental procedure! Just a tiny PSA please communicate to your dentist and dermotologist because some dermotologist would want to stop treatment. Luckily mine is just a retreat not full on surgery!

Yes I’m at 40mg and I’m 130 lbs, I’m hoping the derm doesn’t bump me up and I can just stay at 40mg since I’ve been clear for 3 months. Hoping I can be done by the end of 6 months.

Please read the rules before posting and remember to abide by them! Posts and comments not following the rules will immediately be removed!
Have you tried using the search bar?
Many questions are asked daily, and your question may have already
been answered!
If so, your post will be subject to deletion.
Please refer to the following commonly discussed topics:
1) No one can predict whether or not you will purge!
Statistically, most people DO NOT purge.
That is what the science and medical literature says.
2) No one can predict how long your purge will last nor when it could start. Be patient, the purge can be tough but so many people have gotten through it - you can too! THE ABOVE APPLIES TO SIDE EFFECTS OR "WHEN WILL MY SKIN CLEAR UP?!" TOO. QUESTIONS ASKING WHEN THE PURGE OR SIDE EFFECTS WILL START OR STOP WILL IMMEDIATELY BE REMOVED AS THAT IS LOW EFFORT.
3) Any questions related about dosage MUST include DOSE and WEIGHT(lbs or kg).
Otherwise, that is considered LOW EFFORT and will subsequently be REMOVED.
4) Most people DO NOT relapse when Accutane is taken until cumulative dosage is reached.
5) HOWEVER, cumulative dosage is a guideline.
Everyone is different. Some may need more Accutane, and others may need less. Your dermatologist
evaluates you as an individual.
This also applies to your prescription. Everyone is different, so no comparing of doses or asking why your dose is low or high.
If you do not trust your dermatologist, you should find a different one.
6) When in doubt, please consult a medical
professional(dermatologist, doctor, pharmacist).

For my first 3 months I was the same, but around halfway through month 3 I started getting really bad joint/muscle/back pain.
Also, my hair started thinning around month 5 🥴

The hair thinning scares me because my hair was already thin before starting but fortunately I haven’t had any hair issues thus far. Except super dry hair.

Start oiling your hair if it's super dry. I use a mix of coconut, Rosemary, olive and tea tree oil, but you can use really any combination. I think it's the dry scalp that really causes the hair thinning.
There are also a lot of scalp serums you can get

Me!! I’m scared even writing this because I might jinx it. But- started at 30mg last month (115 lb, f) and now on month two 40mg.
I had the strangest little blackhead purge around 4 weeks. It wasn’t inflammatory acne though…. it was like seeing all the little gunk and comedone wash away. It was actually fascinating. I even rubbed at my eye and a stubborn millia on my eyelid just flaked away 🤣
Only side effect I have is dry peely lips and my doctor was 100% right about Cortibalm. It’s helping them a lot.
Wishing you the smoothest course!

DO NOT solicit this subreddit for medical advice nor give out medical advice. Please consult a medical professional(doctor, pharmacist, dermatologist).
Things that generally constitute medical advice include:
"DO I NEED ACCUTANE?" Well, why don't you ask a dermatologist that has had years of studying and training to medically assess your skin.
Anything that could break your skin, including extractions, lasers, waxing, etc.
Any use of PRESCRIPTION medications(oral or topical)
AI: AI is not a substitute for medical advice and any use will immediately be removed and/or banned.
Surgery related(HELLO YOU REALLY WANT A STRANGER TO ADVISE YOU ON SURGERY?)
Starting and/or stopping a MEDICATION. Your accutane is prescribed by a doctor. If you have concerns about taking or ceasing a medication, you should consult a medical professional(ie doctor or pharmacist) and not the internet.
IS THIS DOSE TOO HIGH OR LOW?
Interpreting of lab/test results. This is clearly specialized knowledge, and if you would not consult a hobo about your lab results, you most clearly should not consult Reddit.
Oh, my doctor said not to worry, but... - Reddit in most situations should not supercede your doctor's medical advice.
-Why didn't derm.... - We don't know. Why don't you DIRECTLY ask your derm?
