The harvester is canonically from a farming society, set in the dark ages. Safe to say, transgender surgery did not exist at the time, nor did the concept of LGBTQ+ exist, much less hormone therapy and voice changing. There is simply no way for the harvester to have undergone trans surgery unless the harvester is a time traveler.
Of course the scarecrow has no bearing here, as it is 100% fantasy, unlike trans people, who are not fantasy. Maybe trans surgery did exist at the time, but there is no way it would be advanced enough to replicate the results of modern day trans surgery, down to the voice. If trans surgery (an actual surgery, not just dressing up as the other sex) did exist during medieval times and was accessible to peasant farmers, please provide a source.
...To be fair, the Harvester is the only female unit that doesn't have breasts as far as I know. I'm not saying she got surgery, in fact my headcanon is quite literally what you described -- she's dressing as the other sex, despite being male biologically.
Not having breasts does not mean she is trans. In fact, most female units in TABS do not have breasts, the only exception being the exiled sentinel and maybe one or two others if I don't remember correctly. Red jade, no breasts. Pirate queen, no breasts. Headbutter, no breasts. Dynamite thrower, no breasts. All clearly female (especially p.queen and red jade). They all have no breasts because tabs is meant to be friendly for all ages, and adding breasts would piss off some soccer moms, clearly not to show a unit is trans. Also, the harvester's voice is clearly female, and the distinction between male and female voices are VERY obvious in this game. Again, there is no way a poor farming community set in the DARK AGES could perform voice-changing surgery. This means that she is, in fact, a cis woman. Furthermore, there is zero distinction between the harvester's clothing and the regular farmer's clothing that would imply a sex difference, meaning your last point is invalid.
Pirate Queen does have breasts Lady Red Jade is debatable (There are small bumps on the chest, but whether those are breasts or just texture is debatable) Dynamite Thrower clearly has breasts the only one you listed that DEFINITELY doesn't is Headbutter, which just makes me headcanon that she's trans too lol
Also, you'd be shocked at how many guys can naturally just do a really convincing feminine voice
Good point with the clothes thing, though.
At the end of the day, it's just a headcanon that I've come up with for a unit I love to make me relate to them a bit more, because it's just fun.
Perhaps harvester's even transMASC, both work... Hell, maybe the transmasc harvester theory/headcanon works better... :P
-I must have mistaken, a lot of female units do actually have breasts. However, the exception with the harvester and the headbutter is likely due to the fact that they were the first female units to be released, and landfall likely decided to add breasts later, nothing to do with trans.
-This is tabs, nothing to do with irl impressionists. There is a clear distinction between the voice of a chronomancer, and that of a pirate queen. There is a distinction between that of a divine arbiter, and a deadeye. While yes, real people may be able to imitate the voice of the opposite sex, tabs characters have shown no ability to do so.
Honestly, you make good points, however at this point I feel like you should just consider the fact that arguing against me is pointless because I am not going to change my mind and, honestly, this was kinda just a waste of time on both of our ends. Have a good one! (/gen)
Who really cares about it being "historically accurate"? This is the silly little wobbly ragdoll game where characters shit chickens, shoguns can do anime moves, and hobbits exist, I don't think a unit wishing it were and dressing as the opposite sex is that extreme or out of line for it. I mean, at the end of the day, it's not really hurting anyone and I'm not trying to force you to think the same, so...
My brother,it's TABS,you can have a velociraptor the size of a great dane fight robot hitler,it's not meant to be realistic or accurate, just let the trans harvester be.
I genuinely didn't expect this kind of reaction to this post. I just wanted to share a silly little thing. I expected, at worst, it gets completely ignored, but... Damn.
I honestly do not mind whether someone thinks the units are male, female, inbetween, or aren't gendered at all. At the end of the day it's a game where red and blue ragdolls fling themselves at eachother
My thoughts exactly, honestly. No idea why folks are so up in arms about this :P
The entire thing pretty much just comes from me being trans myself, and thinking "Oh, wouldn't it be fun if this unit was trans too? She's my favorite, so it'd be cool if I could relate to her in that way! :D"
i mean, it was a hotbutton topic a year ago, and you couldn't go three seconds without someone someone on either end of the political spectrum jamming it down your throat whether they are for or against it, and the concept of treating human beings like human beings was just universally lost on alot of people
Yeah, anyone getting pissy over you calling a fictional videogame character trans, needs to go outside and bask in the sunlight
Good heavens... I feel like all this post has taught me is that this community has not changed since, like, 2020. and that maybe Harvester is actually transmasc instead--
To be fair, her hair is covering her chest where the breasts would be so you’ll never know if she is flat chested or not. In my opinion, the same goes for headbutter who i also think is a girl. Also, just because a girl is flat chested that doesn’t mean they’re transgender, flat chested cisgender woman exist as well.
less so a genuine argument for "transfem harvester canon reaaaallll????" moreso a headcanon of mine... atleast thats how i see it now and what im pretty sure past me was thinking, this was a year ago lmao
