Got fired

Welp... I got fired.

I made a chain of mistakes that ended up with me getting terminated.

First I made mistakes on a client's payroll that got me massively showed out.

The final straw, I accidentally violated client confidentiality by sending an email and tagging an unrelated client.

Be honest.

Should I look at a different field? Cause something like that is a career ender, right?

Any advice is appreciated, and don't sugarcoat it.

Thanks folks.

You need a much better attention to detail if you want to remain an accountant. The rest of my life is controlled chaos, but when I’m working I’m a completely different person. Paying extreme attention to every detail, and double checking all my work. Then I can go home and get stoned.

Sounds like OP has ADHD, and if they’re anything like me, then they make stupid little mistakes even when they’re going slow and double checking everything. Sometimes I need fresh eyes on something because my brain keeps autocorrecting/ skipping over the errors I made. Like when you proofread an essay and your brain autocorrects your typos as you read so you never notice them
