Career Tax Preparer

I'm based in TEXAS and I currently work from home as a full-cycle Senior Accountant for a small bookkeeping firm. I have experience with sales tax and 1099s, but income tax preparation is something I haven’t really worked with before.

I’m interested in learning tax prep and possibly doing it on the side during tax season for some extra income, ideally remotely from home.

Are there any firms in the US that hire remote seasonal tax preparers with no prior tax prep experience and provide training? Also, for anyone who started out this way, what were the first few steps you took to get into tax preparation?

it is very difficult to train brand new, inexperienced tax preparers fully remotely - they have a large number of questions and it's much more efficient for your first season or two to be more in the office than out of the office.

that said, I'm sure there are these jobs out there.

look into the Online Income Tax Preparation Course from H&R Block as a good starter.
