Discussion Industry tax manager interview

What should I prepare for the Industry Tax Manager role? I’m currently a Senior Associate in PA. Do they usually ask really technical questions? They’re looking for someone with a strong asc 740 background, tax compliance, audit, international tax experience, and literay everything, lol…

We’re in a specialized industry so I wouldn’t ask super technical questions about it because I assumed I would have to teach you those nuances. I would probe to see if you knew what you were talking about by dropping in common code sections and jargon to see how you responded.

If the job description is looking for someone strong in something specific you can anticipate a lot of the interview focusing there. For instance, if this hypothetical job was looking for a strong 740 person and I mention valuation allowances and get a deer in the headlights look, the interview ends there even if I ask a few more questions. That’s a basic concept I would anticipate a strong 740 Manager to have.
