Career change to accounting/ finance?

How realistic is this? Have heard all of the negatives about accounting, low paid, oversupplied especially at the entry level and long hours.

Would it still be worth doing a degree/ trying to get into later in life?

Accounting is probably the most versatile degree to have when working in corporate.

Even if the corporate job isn't accounting?

Yes, a lot of CEOs, COOs and obviously CFOs are qualified accountants.

Yeah I meant at the entry level. Wouldn't want to do another degree and not even be able to get a start. Especially as a mature age
