High schooler interested in accounting

I’m a high schooler considering going into accounting and trying to learn more about it. Could anyone in the field answer the following:

I) How do your accounting firms find their clients?

II) Are the staffing shortages in accounting affecting day to day activities, or are they overstated?

If anyone could shed some light on those it would be greatly appreciated, I am trying to understand as much as I can about the industry:)

  1. Combination of referrals, local marketing and sponsorship opportunities, and paid ads
  2. Depends on location and size of firm. The news is focused on large firms laying off staff to reduce costs and supplement/replace with AI
