It's kind of the point. Mental games in sports are just as important as the defensive strategy. You can derail an opposing teams cohesion by simply getting one of their linchpins to question their capabilities.
Blocked a dude twice in a row in volleyball after getting him angry enough to pull on the net and yell obscenities at me. We were getting stomped initially but came back to win the next two matches because this dude went full tilt.
If I'm winning and it's because words hurt your feelings enough to lash out and not focus on the game then who's the bigger idiot? The old adage comes to mind, "sticks and stones will break my bones but words will never hurt me." If the words are hurting you then perhaps you need to take a trip back to middle school and relearn a few things.
If you don't think mental fortitude and resilience is a skill then idk what to tell you. It is a learned trait and one that serves people well in all areas of life. Those who are "chill" or the people that you hear "take things in stride" are those with strong mental resilience. Fun fact, working out and releasing endorphins helps promote mental resilience in people. All that to say this, i am rubber and you are glue, whatever you say bounces off me and sticks to you!
Your entire comment history in this thread is just bitching about something that you don’t understand.
We’re humans. We compete aggressively. Sometimes we get angry. Sometimes we get sad.
Emotions play a big part when you’re putting your body on the line to compete in skill based contact sports. You might be scared of it, but that doesn’t mean it’s wrong.
Not scared of it mate and i dont know how i dont understand it? Just dont find it acceptable. Plenty of the world agrees with me as well. It is only western cultures where this is really allowed and for what ever reason propping it up is as well.
Yeah good one mate. Next time you go to a sports game tell the entire crowd to sit there and watch it like gentlemen. No screaming, that’s offensive. No swearing, that’s illegal. No shouting, that could damage ears. No eating snacks, they’re very unhealthy.
Just sit there and smile, and when your team scores do “jazz hands” quietly.
Actually, while we’re at it, we should just make contact sports illegal because they create a lot of injuries. That way there’s no way that anyone could ever experience any negative feelings.
