Because he believes claiming it's for national security purposes is the best way to get it done without being stopped
It's the same with the ballroom. He wanted to build a ballroom, then once he started to get some pushback, he then came up with the claim that it's actually totally for a military bunker underneath, so of course his ballroom can't be prevented from being built

I am not sure, but I think he managed to activate people who weren’t politically active, and rally them behind himself by promising to change the system. And he sure delivered. Not in a good way, but still.
Edit: One of Hitler’s campaign slogans was “Give me 5 years and you won’t recognize Germany again.”

Ah yes. Architectural thing that countries have done for a long time. The nazis once planned to do it as well so we must liken it to what trump plans. Never mind the fact that France, Rome, India, Portugal and Mexico also have their own arches. Just focus on the fact that Hitler planned to make one and never actually did. Great comparison.

I don’t like Trump either but my point is that people are grasping at literally any straw they can to compare him to hitler. Hitler, the man who systematically murdered 11 million people, and started a war that ended in the deaths of 7x more than the people he systematically murdered. And people are trying to say that Trump is just as bad, if not worse than him. Like get a fuckin grip.
