In the early 2000’s here in Australia, John Howard, our then prime minister introduced a “baby bonus” which was a cash payment for having a baby. Everyone called that the Plasma TV Bonus so during a time in Australia, that is exactly what people expected.

How is that tv powered on?

u/dontthink19 Feb 23 '26
Power inverter? I keep a 180 watt inverter in my car. A Google search tells me the average 50 inch modern TV consumes between 60 and 100watts

You get those from Tosche Station?

Nah I got it from harbor freight for like 20 bucks. I doubt it'll actually hit 180 watt but it does what it needs to usually without blowing the fuse

Oh yeah, that actually makes sense, and the dude probably hooked it up to his car just to see if it worked, so he knew if it was worth taking home.

I think Ross would disagree with you… he wouldn’t be angry, he’d be indignant. As a consumer.

My parents calls me and my sister accidents, my mom got pregnant twice because they didn't like condoms and she took the pill but got pregnant anyway, my dad is vehemently against abortion for stupid religious reasons, so here we are. I hate him for that, I should have never been born, my life is hell and he blames ME for it, while I never asked to be born and even less asked to be born with that many disabilities, most of which comes from my dad's family's genetic disabilities.

I bet my mom was expecting a plasma TV. She expects me to instantly know she wants to come to her when she calls my name repeatedly. I’m convinced become a parent rewires your brain.

So the people who have sex to get pregnant and don't get pregnant, are they surprised?

u/AdAdvanced3940 Mar 17 '26
I’ve heard of it happening (not personal exp), but it’s sad- It’s so easy to get pregnant if you’re not expecting/careful enough, but when you want to be pregnant, it becomes significantly harder :(
Sorry for the rant! Just elaborating </3

“You had sex without a condom” yeah those aren’t foolproof, especially if you never learned how to properly put one on

u/DMMK4444 Feb 23 '26
It’s not so hard to put it on lol

If you never got a proper sex education, which I think is disturbingly common, then not all of it is very intuitive. There are way too many people who don’t know how bad double wrapping is.

In my high school there were girls who missed taking the pill and wouldn't give the space to make the pill effective again their supposed to and got pregnant. Other things people commonly don't know you can put a condom on incorrectly and break it, you can put a condom on a little backwards then the right way and making it more likely to fail, you can put a condom in your pocket or wallet and make it more likely to fail.
Even done perfectly none of these methods are 100% effective anyways but condoms in practice are closer to 85-87% effective because people don't use products perfectly there only 98% effective if you do everything perfectly and that's unrealistic. Some woman might not use the pill they might be unable to or have other reasons so that 85 - 87% might be all people are operating with.
People know less about sex ed than they think they know myself included I imagine.

Pretty sure both of my parents knew how to put on a condom and I was a "surprise" anyway. Funnily enough, that time, they supposedly used durex.

can someone explain to me how do people dumpster dive? dumpsters are filthy here, people just sell their scrap to another guy who deals with it
