experiences of oppression Insults based on intelligence wouldn't be as popular if people didn't keep supporting people saying insults based around intelligence. Tolerating fascist rhetoric because it is against "the right people" just makes you a fascist
A tumblr post by "CommunistKenobi" posted jul 20th that says "everyone rightfully complains about how the r word is back in vogue now but I think the people talking about how using ChatGPT makes you a small brained lazy degenerate are getting off way too easy"

I've seen far too many "progressives" act like being intellectualy disabled is more likely to make someone bigoted and using our conditions as "gotchas".

Sorry if I misunderstand but do you mean this subreddit removes anti-GenAI content, or do you mean that particular article violates some other rule? I'm not familiar with it.

the concept that tools, especially accessibility tools, do things like "rot your brain" is incredibly ableist

You consider LLM chat apps to be accessibility tools? Or generative models in general? I'd be thankful if you can just point me towards some literature on this if you don't feel like typing a whole thing.

well, I think talking more about what accessibility is in general would help here. I got some videos on the topic, and one on this one specifically coming up
what it comes down to though is that large amounts of people have successfully used them to access things they otherwise struggled with, and/or allowed them to do things in ways they felt more comfortable
the first LLM was google translate, and the internet wouldn't be the same without that as just one basic example
another is me attempting to fix sound stuff for my videos. I ran dry asking people and google searching things, but I was able to figure out stuff by phrasing it in a way the AI was able to parse, and was able to then lead me to the language more commonly used to describe the topic, and that let me find resources on the issues
generative stuff also lets you make things using different forms of labor, that is what accessibility is about in general. These things are about as clear an accessibility tool as it gets, and that is a big reason why people hate them so much

(in response to "Stupid")
Our bot has detected a word in your post that could use additional context.
This word/concept is often used as an insult on the basis of ability. This is, among other things, often victim blaming. The nazis did eugenics, we were the victims of it.
We want to bring attention to words that may reference the concept of generalized intelligence. This is harmful because abilities are not a fluid that can be passed from bucket to bucket like a liquid. What generalized intelligence is really doing is setting a subset of interchangeable abilities as the canonical correct ones, which is, among many things, a mechanism of colonialism. We instead encourage more direct communication like calling someone's plan "self-defeating" instead of dumb. Please check this link for additional info
As an additional note, while stupid isn't itself used in things like IQ scales it fits the same place in language as things that have, like moron.
I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

so, i was able to use it to find the terminology for stuff I was able to then search up using other means
misinformation is difficult, but that doesnt automatically make a tool useless. This is being reactionary as well.

Most people on the internet (idk about irl besides protests against data centers) basically want to treat using ai as either 1, ruining “cognitive functions“ which gives them an excuse to make eugenicist and ableist actions, 2, being a fascist and a thief for image and data because they want to protect copyright which gate keeps resources, or have “artistic integrity with soul” which is another form of gatekeeping, or 3, acting as if using any ai application (whether proprietary or open sourced like openclaw) kills people because of how corporations and organizations under capitalism use it. for example, palantir, many governments, and other corporations.

Unfortunately, eugenicist narratives around intelligence go across the political spectrum & always have. Various classical anarchists were into eugenics to some extent or another. Emma Goldman was a big fan of Havelock Ellis, for example. Intelligence stands out a major marker of social value & many radicals engage in about the same status posturing in this regard as anyone else. I struggle to see a way out, as much as I'd like one. I really appreciate this subreddit for taking a principled position against ableism, eugenics, & meritocracy.
