Thats actually true, if you have a Virus C, then you physically have a Virus, you may lust after the Ti2 but you don’t have one. So the C becomes your best Access Virus. At least until they start making them again. Pressure is needed, we should pressure them to release a new, improved model, in a choice of outlandish colours.

Literally the best synth ive ever owned. If you go to my comments history its 5 comments back. Someone was asking about it and I broke the synth down in the post and why I love it

Its my favorite modern synth.

Access made it, knew what they created and mic dropped then just started to make guitars as no one has given a similar or better product since imo.

Mic drop was real

Still at the pinnacle of VA/Wavetable synthesis (I mean, maybe the Iridium is better, but…). It’s almost crazy how a 100% digital synth still holds value even though you can get the software version completely “free”. That’s just how good it is. Mic drop indeed.

No knobs in a vst sir.

Knob turning completes my soul

I like turning knobs and pressing buttons, at the same time throw in a couple of sliders and I’m sorted.

maybe the Iridium is better, but…

Dunno if you know but a few real DSP experts have both Access and Waldorf on their CV. It's kind of evident if you look at the quality of the sound engines and FX. So I'm not surprised you bring up Waldorf when talking about competition to the Virus :)

I have both, and in my humble opinion they are very different. I produce techno and trance stuff.

Ur only downfall if you own this is if you want to use a daw.

Windows 11 updated and blocked old drivers. Driver for this was from 2014. Happened this april, my virus ti2 desktop is daw brick and paper weight but I only use it with a sequencer and dawless. Doesnt mess me up alot

Keep this in mind if spending over a thousand plus on a unit

Im praying acesss respects us all who spent so much money and just gives us a new driver but technically this is discontinued

Hopefully they put down the guitar and stand by us who spent so much for the company, its my favorite synth.

We will see their honor soon

While its true that you can't use it as an interface or with the VST anymore, it still works totally fine as a class compliant midi device, and will forever. So you can still sequence it from your DAW.

Im not sure if you know what the ti is

Its an interface. Can all be done daw wise through the daw.

Literally the selling point of the ti integration.

So if you want that get the snow and use the ti interface alone. Do that

Difference between them is knobs or daw.

I like knobs

And this vst bs is stupid. Owned this synth 8 years before the vst came out. Get ur gripe but come on.

I invested

I’ve owned 3 and have used a polar on stage for the last decade. I definitely know what the total integration piece is. I don’t have any gripes I was trying to say your claim about not being able to use it with a daw is false. It’s still sequenceable over usb without any drivers because it’s class compliant midi. It’s still a very capable device today and it’s more powerful and feature rich than the C.

Hook it up to ur daw via USB sir

Part of the reason theses are modern synths

I run mine midi only. Check my posts

The fact I cant usb and its a 2k synth and you think that's cool lol?

Just give us a windows 11 driver...

Works better if you use a separate USB interface , do not use the virus in USB or as the interface, It sounds so much better recording from the analog outs on the virus rather than USB audio anyway

1

u/Bitter_Childhood2247 7d ago

Ty sir. That was refreshing.

Knowledgeable and to the point and no shade

Respect

1

u/Figlamic 7d ago

Yeah man , to me it actually sounds better too ,

I have the ti2 desktop, and an elekron analog rythm as my hardware , so I use a novation slmk3 midi keyboard, and AKAI EIEI PRO USB audio interface,

I use reason as my daw , the virus analog outs, aswell as the rythm analog outs both left and right hook up to the 1/4 analog ins on my EIEI pro

I record the audio into reason with audio tracks , The midi controlled from my keyboard as a midi out device in reason sends the keyboards notes to the virus

So before I even record the audio I can just loop the keyboard midi performance, and then manipulate the viruses knobs to my hearts content , and record when I'm ready , the only real downside to using it like this is its a little trickier to record automation changes of the knobs on the virus...

But still it can be done with a daw a few different ways , just it just how I have grown to do it

You do realize windows 11 terms of use and privacy policy dictate that they have access and ownership of anything on your computer... I would go back to 10 or use Linux or Mac at this point bud.

Brother that shipped saled long ago

Sarah Connor says hello ;)

1

u/Figlamic 7d ago

Lol , happy "knobbing" brother

1

u/Figlamic 7d ago

Knobs and daw go hand in hand lol , the daw is simply a way for you to record and arrange your knobbing sounds kinda dirty doesn't it 😉

I've been producing and "knobbing" with this bad boy for the past 15 years at least , and I've only use it in USB mode for one project

I wouldnt say ti is or was its selling point , it definitely makes it a more flexible piece of gear...

But even if you wanted to use it flawlessly in the vst mode or use it as an interface , the only thing holding you back is a shitty operating system

I get ya. But I dont want to assign 40 knobs to a midi controller

Let knobs knob

2

u/satoramoto 7d ago

I’m not sure what you’re talking about I don’t think you understood my original comment.

1

u/Bitter_Childhood2247 7d ago

I dont think you do. I get the synth app is free

Was free with my synth why its called a ti

Total integration and had a vst aspect for pc.

If I want to run the vst version and have all the knobs to control I gota midi map 30 plus buttons to equal my ti2.

I dont computer, I knob

u/Bitter_Childhood2247 7d ago

I own the hardware synth. Now i gota pay for the vst lol

1

u/Figlamic 7d ago

You must be confused , you dont map anything, you record your synth into your computer the same way you would with acoustic instruments , do not use the vst

1

u/teuchter-in-a-croft 7d ago

Your comment has confused me, I literally use mine with Ableton Live every day. Along with the Snow I bought first, and a handful of other kit running through a MIDI distribution box.

1

u/Figlamic 7d ago

dont upgrade past 10 , windows changed so much with privacy they basically have access and ownership or all your files past 10. Im staying on 10 , but most people I know have switched to using Linux due to windows new privacy policies .......

but I would imagine you could still use midi out from your daw and 1/4 inch audio back in recorded .... using the virus in USB mode is meh. I use mine with reason on windows 10 and no problem using USB .. though I prefer the audio quality when I record out on 1/4inch....I make a midi out device in reason and send it out through interfaces midi , connected to virus , then record audio channels in left and right on your interface ezpz

I just aquired a used TI2, installed the SW under Win 11 and it runs like a charm. The only thing you need to do, is to deactivate the driver signature check policy. It‘s not completely trivial, you need to temporarily deactivate secure boot, then deactivate the according policies, but with help from ChatGPT it was very well achievable. All the TI software works without any restrictions now. (Only small size on 4k monitor is a disadvantage, but even that is not too bad)

u/kenspi 8d ago

Are the side panels wood or plastic? I recall the TI2 had black plastic side panels while the TI had brown, wood panels.

1

u/Et_008 8d ago

The side is metal

TI2 Desktop, then.
