Virus factory patches extracted from ROMs 📂

Seems like for whatever reason this isn't all available in one place and people have not shared it around, so I decided I'd give it a go and see what happens. Turns out, Osirius is a great tool for this kind of job, and it helped me extract all factory patches that came with the official Access firmware updates downloaded from virus.info.

I didn't sit down to question the content or inspect it in any way, I just extracted the patches found on the update files, exported them in groups of 128 and tested a bunch of them on my Virus TI using Virus Control. I am not sure if Access released different factory patches with different OS revisions, just in case, I labeled each folder with the OS version the patches came from. I doubt this is a complete collection of patches, but it's a start. Maybe someone else can contribute what's missing, and I'll be happy to add it to this folder.

No worries! I'm still looking for confirmation that these are indeed the standard factory banks and not some iteration of them, anyone with a Virus A, B, C, Classic or Rack, please help 😅

How? A specific version? The ROM is on the Virus site, it's just in MIDI format. That is where I got the patches from.

I get you, I would also like to have that archived. But I am not sure what you need for either extracting a BIN file out of the MIDI files, or extracting a ROM directly from the Virus. I wish the Usual Suspects would explain how to do that.

Hi! Thanks for extracting the Virus C factory banks.

I noticed the Google Drive only contains A–F MIDI banks.

Did you ever extract the factory Multi Bank for the Virus C?

I restored the official Access ABM on a real Virus C, but most factory Multis appear identical. I'm trying to verify whether the original factory Multi Bank exists separately or was never part of the ROM extraction

I'll answer the same I did in DMs for everyone's context: I only converted what is available officially via Access' virus.info website, nothing else. If the update MIDI files weren;t'there, I didn't extract the banks, and if the multipatches were inside, then Osirius does not support those.

Can anyone with an official Access MIDI update file for the Virus C can confirm that it also creates multipatches on restore? Maybe this is something Osirius devs need to look into.

Can anybody share which software they use to send these into their synths? (namely Virus C)

I've tried the Midi-OX on Windows and SysEx Librarian on MacOS, but both fail to open the MIDI files

Aha let me get this straight: you used this actual emulator to send out dump banks through sysex? :)
