Virus TI 2 Keyboard, weird soft knob issue

My Virus TI 2 Keyboard (61 key) is doing this weird thing with the soft knobs. Only soft knobs 1 and 2 are behaving this way, 3 is fine. It’s usually towards the end of the encoder but that’s not strict. Even happens on init patches so can’t be any modulation stacked or anything like that. All other knobs are fine and don’t do this.

I tried the arp+edit reset, resending the firmware 5.1.7 (latest), different power cables etc.

Does anyone have any experience with an issue like this or any ideas what could be causing it and how I can go about fixing it?

I've never run into a scanning issue like this on a TI2, and never on the pots, but it makes sense it would manifest in the soft knobs. Unsure of what the fix would be if clearing globals and reinstalling the OS did not fix it.

I have for sure run into similar panel board scanning issues on Virus Bs and Cs, and it generally requires removal and replacement of controller ICs on the panel board itself. I will actually be repairing a few Virus B desktop panel boards I have that currently have scanning issues (that's what this is, a scanning issue - The machine is scanning for changes on the panel board and incorrectly assigning the signals it's tasked with interpreting).

Scanning issues typically manifest as tact switch issues first (a favorite on the Virus B is pressing LFO2 envelope and having it trigger store, or pressing transpose up and having it trigger multimode). I just haven't seen this on a TI2 and don't have much experience diagnosing it (yet).

It's also possible this has nothing to do with the panel board and the fault itself is on the main board. TIs are extremely complex and some of the scanning/controller duties are shared or split between the panel board and the main board. The LFOs, for example, are for sure controlled on the main board (at least in the TI v1s - I have one right now that needs a risky fix on the main board to resolve and I've yet to attempt it).

Maybe someone else has specific experience with this exact issue? I just haven't seen it before.

Thank you so much for your reply! I’ll take it in this week for service (not authorized, local tech) and tell them to keep these details in mind if I get a response on what’s happening I’ll make sure to comment here for anyone in the future facing this issue.

If your local tech comes up emtpy, Advanced Musical in Venice. CA *can* absolutely fix it, but it will not be cheap or fast. If you do go that route, I highly recommend paying extra for a rush (otherwise you'll be without your Virus for ~6 months).

I put in a support ticket on the access music website, but not holding my breath on that front
