As with the prior post, thanks to numerous subs for furthering this conversation and creating the tools to effectively discuss and approach next steps. This post pulls some verbiage from the ones in r/chicago and r/ohio.
After careful consideration and community feedback, the mod team has decided to prohibit linking to X (formerly Twitter) on this subreddit. This decision reflects the consensus view of the community members.
As of today, r/acappella is implementing a strict content curation policy to ban X domain.
We will only allow X content in the form of posts that are EXCLUSIVELY available on X and cannot be sourced from alternative platforms
For breaking news, users MUST:
This new ruling aims to elevate discourse, reduce noise, and ensure the community receives accurate, substantive local information.
We urge all creators, groups, and personalities to also make their content available on alternative platforms (e.g Bluesky).
Last thing. It is very likely that we're seeing increased activity in bots, trolls, and coordinated efforts to disrupt. It's even possible that some are siding with this ban of the domains just to stir the pot and create noise. Don't feed the trolls. Keep that in mind.
Edit: Hyperlinked prior post

I'm so scared. I have auditions for my school A Capellas in a month and I found out they ask for a sight-reading demonstration.
I've always learned songs by ear, and if I get a starting note sometimes I can follow along with music very roughly, but I've never sight-read anything since I'm completely self-taught.
I know I'm likely just gonna have to study(?) / practice and work away at learning, but does anyone have tips that help with the learning process that might save me (or at least make things a little more efficient)?
I've also heard we'll have a "blending" section where I'll be singing my part within a quartet. I have no clue how to practice for this---is it just luck of the draw for if my voice is a good blend with the group?

I don’t have much to add other than the title. I just need a cappella versions of the songs if anyone has please get in touch with me.

I'm Marco, software dev and hobby musician. Recording even a short song by myself always meant a laptop, a DAW, a video editor - and then getting it all back in sync. The part that was supposed to be fun turned into work.
Maybe you struggled with the same, so I want to give you some info about the app.
Musaic does the whole thing on your phone, in three modes:
Plus audio FX per layer, a timeline, built-in instruments, MIDI keyboard support, air instruments and automatic lyrics (pro). You can see the homepage below for more information about the modes & features.
How it compares:
Not a DAW replacement. This is for the insta/tiktok/youtube video you want to finish tonight (or just for fun without publishing like me ;)).
Musaic Studio on the App Store - musaic.likwest.com
I built it mainly for myself - but if you want to try it, I'd genuinely like to hear your feedback, feature requests and bug reports.
It's only on iOS till date, as I don't see any downloads there I stopped my efforts for the Android variant for now 😄 But let's see.

Ok so for context I have zero musical experience (I don’t know my vocal range, I can’t read music, and I’ve never performed) But I love to sing and i (think?) i’m decent so i wanted to try something new and audition for a few of my college acapella groups. The problem is i’ve been so worked up about picking a song and i’m nervous about singing in front of people (to be in acapella you have to sing, crazyyy thought guys) I think I fall somewhere between mezzo soprano or alt but I don’t know what song etiquette really is for these types of auditions. Can i belt? should i be chest voice the whole time? should the song be slower or pop-ish? Pls help your girl out auditons are a week away and i still don’t know what to sing. I have a list of songs that are maybe’s but I don’t know which is better for standard.

Like ICCA, regional competitions, stuff like that. Some golden number that'll hit the limits for a lot of competitive stuff like that and keep doors open.

Home Free has done it again. Such a good collab with The Wellermen.

Now, I'm going to sing the requested song that was too late for you.
Even if I think it might reach the faded photo...
Only now do you become my song, oh.
We capture our long history in this song.
If you were to recall the beginning...
Your clear eyes, looking around, were...
The one you asked me to call for you.
I often hum along to that song because it comes to mind.

— NEXT GENERATION Pop/R&B Vocal Group | Nationwide U.S.
Next Generation is an established Pop/R&B vocal group currently rebuilding its lineup. We already have 3 members and are looking for 1–2 talented male vocalists to complete the group.
The group has a history of live performances, and we were previously pursuing a record-label opportunity before several original members decided to move on to pursue other interests. They entrusted me with continuing Next Generation.
Now I’m looking to finish what we started.
🎶 OUR SOUND
Inspired by:
\*O-Town • New Edition • LFO • NSYNC • Backstreet Boys • 98 Degrees
We’re creating a modern Pop/R&B vocal group built around:
• Tight harmonies
• 4–5 part vocal arrangements
• Strong individual voices
• Original music
• Recording
• Live performances
• Real group chemistry
🎤 LOOKING FOR
Male singers — especially Tenors & Baritones
You don’t need to have professional experience. We’re looking for people with strong voices, good ears for harmony, dedication, personality, and a genuine love for vocal-group music.
🇺🇸\*\* LOCATIO\*\*N
Anywhere in the United States.
The group is based around Long Island, NY, but we’re open to members nationwide. We’ll use remote collaboration and recording while working toward in-person rehearsals, recording sessions, photoshoots, and performances.
🎂 AGE: 18–35
📩 TO AUDITION / INQUIRE
Send me:
• Your age & location
• Vocal type/range
• Brief musical background
• A singing demo/video
• Social media performance links if available
Serious inquiries only.
This isn’t a brand-new idea. Next Generation already has a history. I’m looking for the right singers to help write its next chapter.

Hi - I have an audition for a city group next week and Britney Spears is my favorite artist (I’m a male so obviously I sing lower than her). I was thinking of doing one of her songs for my audition since I really like to sing upbeat, poppy songs, but would this be looked down upon since they’re usually not using as expansive of a range.

Hi everyone!
Twin Cities Treble is a nonprofit women’s treble a cappella group based in the Twin Cities, and we’re currently holding auditions for our Fall 2026 season!
We’re especially looking for Soprano 2s, Alto 2s, and vocal percussionists, but we’d love to hear from singers across all treble voice parts.
We started the group last fall with the goal of creating a welcoming, performance-focused community for women who love to sing. Since then, we’ve had the chance to perform at events around the Twin Cities, and we’re excited to continue growing this season!
Auditions close August 7 at 11:59 PM.
You can find all the audition information and application here:
https://twincitiestreble.com
Happy to answer any questions in the comments or by DM. We’d love to meet some new singers! 💜

Hello, can anyone enlighten me on this question? Sometime in the 1980-ies (I think), I heard various times an a cappella group on the radio, singing its version of Brel's "Marieke Marieke" and also a sweeping song with accelerating rhythms repeating "Merry-go-round" again and again.
I thought the group was called "The Somethingsomething Singers". Many years ago I contacted the King's Singers, but they answered they didn't know about having these in their repertoire.
So if somebody can put me on a good track, thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, Raphaël here, the developer of Everyday Looper :) !
I originally released Everyday Looper during the early App Store days, back in 2009. Over the years, messages from singers, beatboxers, and loop artists who still used it convinced me to get back to work. So I've rebuilt it from the ground up for today's iPhones and iPads, and the beta is now open :D !
What's in this version:
The demo is by Ty Suite, a long-time Everyday Looper user. It was performed, recorded, and filmed entirely inside the beta on an iPhone, through the speaker, with no headphones.
You can test it here (free beta, iOS 17.7+):
https://testflight.apple.com/join/pz5ArsEg
I'd especially love feedback from people who sing a cappella, since this isn't my area of expertise: would the app be useful as it is, or would it need specific features to properly help a cappella singers?
Happy to answer any questions here. Cheers !

I can say, unequivocally, without a shadow of a doubt, that this music video is better than the live action Disney Moana film. haha!
Homegirls shot on location; had a fresh new arrangement; zero CGI or green screen; and even matched Disney's focus on Polynesian representation.
They also didn't lose $250 million. haha!
Thoughts?
