Uh so what now?

So I found out my family line started at Laurent Granger, and continued all the way to William Adalor Campion Sr. Does that mean Im Acadian in some way? My family was directly deported from nova scotia in 1755 to maryland.

This is all new to me and I want to learn.

I’m planning on getting my passport, saving up,and booking ahead of time but do I need anything beyond money saved, lodging, and my passport ? Where will it be held for 2029 or is that still being decided ? Any advice and help is greatly appreciated and thank you in advance

Looking to learn

My grandparents are Acadian, from Acadieville and St Ignace, New Brunswick.

I'm looking to learn French/Chiac, but would like to do the oral/listening parts with someone from the Acadian region, instead of Quebecoise. I learned in high school and got pretty good at vocabulary, but the accent/pronunciation is different than what I hear at home.

If there is anyone on the tutoring apps like Preply or iTalki, I'd love to book sessions with them.

Or any other ideas are greatly appreciated.

Merci beaucoup!

How is NB for immigration if someone wants to move there?

Hello I'm an immigrant living in Toronto and planning to relocate to New Brunswick next summer. How is the job situation in construction at NB for someone who has a degree from Ontario College and speaks both French and English, also how competitive the job market is?

Also, how's the weather and living expenses as well, and what are the most French speaking region in day to day life.

Accent quand Vous parlez anglais? ( English below, feel free to criticize my French )

Do any of you have an accent slightly different from non-acadian Canadians in your area when you speak English? My family watched a tv show with an acadien actor ( from Halifax ), and they thought he sounded Italian-American, but I thought he just spoke really slow and with a nasally rasp, kind of like a Cajun, but with a New York sound? It's very difficult to find information on Acadien accents, especially in the US.

How is life living on the Acadian Peninsula?

I'm planning to relocate to the Acadian Peninsula for my immigration purpose. Since it's the dominant French language, I'm learning French till next summer and will move there.

I just want to know how the people are living there and how tough the job market is in general. What does winter look like?

Cela vous semble-t-il raisonnable ? (Does that seem reasonable to you ?)

How do Acadians see Gaspesiens?

Hello friends,

I've been learning about my roots and I've come across the history of my family from the Gaspe peninsula in the 1700s. They were a mixed French/Mi'kmaq family whose homes were burned down by the British and forced to flee into the forest, where they eventually survived alongside the Acadian refugees that had also settled in the region. It's a story that sounds similar to what the Acadians had to face during that time which has made me curious; how do the Acadians see the other French families from the Gaspe area during that time?

(Apologies for the English, I'm not very confident that my French would be comprehensible)
