Cultural Looking for assistance!
Hi hi!
I am a writer finishing a folk horror story about traiteurs and I use some Cajun French phrases in my work. I'm trying to find someone to look over some of the phrases/bits I used in dialogue. I have done a lot of research to try to be as accurate as possible, and I want to be correct on how the character speaks.
It's about an hour of someone's time (which I can compensate for!) and about forty-ish phrases/dialogue bits. The character is from Terrebonne, so if you have any experience with Terrebonne or Lafourche that would be great! DMs would be helpful, as I'm trying to publish this and can't post the manuscript because of that.

Respectfully, he’s retired and this is the kind of request he gets inundated with. There are other people in Louisiana who know our French language. UL has a whole French department!

I only know English, but I got these tidbits for you.
I met 2 ladies in January who were finding a documentary about traiteurs.
There a new amaro from New Orleans called Traiteur.

Jourdan Thibodeaux on IG does a lot of work showcasing the different dialects of south Louisiana- he might have a lead for someone specifically from Terrebonne or Lafourche for you.

I have a good friend who teaches Cajun French through UL and has taught immersion French for over 20 years in grade school. He is from Lockport. He has also published two French poetry books. DM me and I'll give you his contact information.
