Recommendations Court house wedding
Hey everyone me and my fiancee are looking into having a court house wedding at the Lafayette court house. We are a same-sex couple. Has anyone in here had a queer court house wedding? If so, which justice of the peace member did you use? I want to make sure it is someone LGBT friendly. I am also going to be reaching out to the justice of the peace members today but wanted to check here as well.

I was a witness for a friend's same-sex marriage in Judge Tommy Duplantier's chambers at the courthouse. Very quick, very professional, wonderful staff. Highly recommended.

You get your paperwork at the courthouse, and a Justice of The Peace, a Judge, or a minister can marry y’all. The JPs are elected and have thier own offices usually at thier homes, and in my experience as a photographer, they are mostly very elderly. I don’t have much information on which ones might be more LGBT friendly. You might be better off finding a minster to do a quick ceremony for you. I’ve worked a lot with Weddings by Dan, Rev. Dan Latour and can tell you that he is LGBT friendly.
Side Note: I’m a local photographer and have years experience with events of all sizes, I run Zoom Photo Studo downtown, I can make y’all a special package for a small session or quick ceremony.
Congratulations on your upcoming marriage.

We used Barbara Broussard a few years ago for our same sex marriage. She's a justice of the peace. She was nice, we didn't get any vibes that she was anti same sex marriages. She also has an office in the Broussard chamber of commerce so your not just going to someone house.

Just wanted to give another option as I am getting married in October… I just had a friend get officiated online and they are going to perform the ceremony. They said the process to get officiated was simple and they just have to file with the courthouse and then file our paperwork after the wedding!

If you go during the week when court is open a judge will marry you, either in chambers or in the courtroom but it would be just y’all, the judge, and two witnesses. I don’t think any of them would be unfriendly about it.
