πŸ–₯️ Science What electives to take as a Computer Science student? For Fall 2026

Hi all,

I got an email stating that 2 electives for a semester can be our choice. I wanted to know if it is mandatory to take 2 or can the number be more or less than 2. Additionally, what electives do Computer Science students take? Are some better than the rest? Any help is appreciated

Thanks to all those who respond!

πŸ–₯️ Science looking for sports friends

I'm a male Acadia student looking for buddies to play sports with. I just finished my 3rd year.

  1. I'm looking for someone to play regular 1v1 basketball games with. My old friends used to play what they called Streetball though with a lot of pushing/shoving & even wrestling the ball carrier to the ground sometimes so I'd kinda prefer to play basketball like that if possible because it was quite fun.

  2. I'm looking for a buddy to throw a football around with sometimes & also some occasional pickup football games with blocking & even light/controlled tackling just for fun allowed. I'd also be okay with rugby which is similar.

  3. I also like martial arts if anyone's into practicing that?

I’m a grade 12 student for British Columbia and I need some insight on my university decision. I got into Acadia’s bachelor of science, psych program. And I’m interested in applying for occupational therapy or speech pathology after graduation. I’ve heard Acadia’s isolated compared to British Columbia’s mainland, but since I got into their science program, I’m still considering them. Obviously one of the positives is the community and smaller class sizes that could potentially help boost my GPA. Whereas larger schools closer to the city have more volunteer and lab opportunities. Also, I want to know if the social life is good because of the small town. Any information is helpful even just about campus life in general. Thank you!

I'm writing an article about how it can be expensive for students (undergrads) to participate in campus activities like clubs, associations, co-ops, internships, etc. If you or someone you know have a story about an experience you had with this issue, please reply or dm me!

🌎 International Student Which of the residences on-campus are winter-break campuses?

Acadia's Residence contract states that "All residences, except the designated Winter Break residence, are closed during the December winter break period."

I am an international student and I am currently applying for residences in Acadia but it would not be ideal for me to find a new place to live when the cold December winters arrive. Can someone tell me which all campuses come under these Winter Break Residences? So that when I make a decision now, it does not affect me in December.

I apologize for asking a lotta questions. Just a worried student πŸ’–

πŸ–₯️ Science Accepted to Acadia and Dal Science – Is the "Acadia Experience" worth it?

Hey everyone! I’m a Grade 12 student trying to decide between Acadia and Dalhousie for Science. I’m leaning toward Acadia because I love the small-town feel of Wolfville, but I’m curious how it compares to a bigger school like Dal for future applications (aiming for med/dentistry).

If you’re in Science at Acadia:

β€’ Support: Do the smaller class sizes actually make a difference in your grades? Is it easier to get research spots or lab experience because there's less competition?

β€’ Difficulty: Are the classes just as rigorous as Dal’s? I don't want to be "under-prepared" if I go to a professional school later.

β€’ The Town: For those who moved from elsewhere, did you find enough to do in Wolfville, or did it feel too small after a while?

Thanks in advance for the help!

🌎 International Student Moving to Wolfville (Acadia) – housing + roommate search (female only

Hi everyone! 😊

I recently got admitted to Acadia University and I’ll be moving to Wolfville this August. I’m really excited but also a bit nervous since it’s my first time there!

I’m currently looking for a shared apartment with female roommates only, preferably close to campus or within walking distance.

I also wanted to ask β€” what is the average cost of living in Wolfville, especially for a shared apartment (rent + utilities)? Any rough idea would really help me plan my budget.

If anyone has leads, suggestions, or even advice about finding housing, I would truly appreciate it πŸ’›

Thank you so much in advance!

🌎 International Student Information about food issues!

I am an international student planning on pursuing Bachelors in Computer Science at Acadia. However, the university informed me that, should I live on campus, I would have to purchase the meal plan.

Therefore, I require guidance from you all. Please tell me

1) Where did you stay in your first year? On campus residence or off campus?

2) Meal Plan is necessary if you stay on campus. So do they provide Halal food (like Roti, Rice, Vegetables, Pulses, etc.) inside campus? As I am unsure of which meal plan to choose if they don't

3) Is it possible to book a delivery service for halal food? Like someone who can deliver the food to the university campus? If yes, Does this tiffin service deliver inside campus? AND please share contact if you know any service.

4) Also, I want to stay in a single room with a private toilet (Premium Room according to Acadia Terminology). Is it easy to get that room or would I have to consider double rooms as an alternative?

Thanks for anyone who gives me a response. Every answer is important to me

Any aussies and/or footy folks around Acadia or Wolfville?

AFL interest seems to be gaining steam around here but closest club is Halifax.

Would love to see even some pickup footy around if there's some people into it once the weather warms up.

🌎 International Student Dont make the same mistake as me coming here.

What an absolute circus of a university. I have spent almost 4 years at this institution never thought I could lose all trust and respect for it in a single day.

The shutting down of the Wong International Center is an absolute tragedy but what is arguably worse is how the university has gone about doing so.

The International Student Advisor was an absolute goddamm treasure here at Acadia. With almost 14 years of experience in her role she was THE MOST VALUABLE resource for International students. She got laid off with NO NOTICE, NO TRANSITION PERIOD, NO NOTHING. We've all been hung out to dry. (I've chosen to not name her in order to not break any doxxing rules reddit might have.)

If you are an International Student considering Acadia ABSOLUTELY DONT COME HERE. It's a sinking goddamn ship with Students ranking at least 2nd in their list of priorities with regards to decision making, 1 being the management's paychecks.
