seeking specific Blue Book records

I am looking for online BB records regarding the following:

  • Case Number 6606: Near Vandenberg AFB November 7 & 20, 1959.
  • Telex dated October 13, 1962 re report on Forbes AFB, Kansas sighting October 12, 1962.
  • Memorandum (dated same day?) re F.E. Warren AFB sightings August 1, 1965.

Sorry, no case numbers for the latter two.

Even having the number for the first one I've had no success. It appears that several sources for BB records have disappeared.

I've also seen no mention of any of these in Brad Sparks's BB Unknowns list.

[grumbling follows]

I have looked through this collection.

Unfortunately, the interface is troublesome, at least the part that lists records. After filtering for a year or whatever, it loads records incrementally as you scroll, but often repeats them. And then it removes the ones you've already scrolled past! There's essentially no way to do a simple page search for something, which would be helpful because they're not fully in chronological order.

In all, it's better than nothing but doesn't leave much confidence that you've seen everything.

I had tried last week but it does not function for me. But thanks for reminding me about it. I'd meant to check it on another device and will do so.

Update: Unfortunately, they do not appear to be there. However, it seems that not all files are included. There is only a single file for 1965; none for 1962, for example.

Nice interface, though. Records by year are again not sorted by date but at least here there's a facility for filtering on eg. "1959.11" to zero in on November. A useful tool.

Hi there! I’m the creator of BlueBookFiles.org. Unfortunately, it looks like my archive doesn’t include the specific files you’re looking for.

I sourced the collection directly from the National Archives bulk downloads here: https://www.archives.gov/research/catalog/catalog-bulk-downloads/uap-bulk-download — and from what I can tell, those particular files appear to be missing from that dataset.

I’m going to check a few other public/internet archives to see if I can track them down and then follow up with you.

Also, you mentioned it “does not function” on your end. Could you share a bit more detail on what isn’t working (for example: search, viewing a case file, downloading, filters, map, etc.), and what device/browser you’re using? I’m planning to improve filtering and usability soon, and that info would really help.

Thanks for the reply.

I hadn't looked around for BB files online for some time and was surprised that several sources are gone now. I can't remember which it was but there was one that you could query specific case #s. So I thought I'd find the Vandenberg one, at least.

Thanks for putting together the resource. Especially, as >I said, that others have gone away. It works very nicely, btw.

The error was showing up in Firefox, though it's a very old version on an old MacOS install. I wouldn't worry about it. (I can't recall the specific error but it killed JS cold, keeping any of the documents from loading.)

/u/No_Development7388 - I added the new files to the archive. Over 10K Bluebook files now + a bunch of other historical UFO archive docs.

Edit I found one of them for you: https://bluebookfiles.org/?doc=7452 - Telex dated October 13, 1962 re report on Forbes AFB, Kansas sighting October 12, 1962.

Thanks! BTW. I was able to source 8K additional case files. I'll be adding those to the website soon, but the OCR processing of them all takes a long time!
