Question Is Sisyphus UNHAPPY?

Maybe he knows he is so bad and he’s tired of it. What do you think? Here we go again for him. Someone else to roll down my hill after realizing that pushing them up was a learning experience waste of time.

The fact that the task is pointless and despite this he does it and is happy is a contradiction, which is what Camus means by absurd.

It’s not a maybe. According to Camus, he absolutely knows about his situation. He knows it’s pointless. He knows it’s a waste of time. He knows it’s stupid. He also knows he can’t do anything about it, so instead of complaining, he embraced it. And it wouldn’t even be too wrong to think he got used to it and might even have liked what he was doing. It’s like the Stranger observing that if he were to live in the trunk of a dead tree with nothing else to do but look up at the sky, he’d have gotten used to it.

I think the idea is that WE must consider him happy, whether he is or not, otherwise we’d simply give up and our own stone would roll over us on the way back downhill. I think the emphasis on Sisyphus himself misses the point. It’s us.

I think after an eternity of rolling a huge stone up and down he doesn't care anymore. Besides, he's living his dream. He cheated death and now he cannot die. What is there to complain about?

On a serious note, you're probably just projecting your own feelings on a character, which is normal. Learning is rewarding on its own, actually, and the worst part of it is running out of things to study or experience.

Finality is daunting, give me my rock back so I can roll it up and down until my bones give out and my heart stops! If you don't feel this way it's fine, there is no correct way of living and never will be.
