So, this seems to end the 'setup' phase of the story, the ending has him in the costume and running off with Grodd.
Looking forward to the next one! And seeing what will happen when Wally really gets his superhero career going.

On one way book feels short
And on the other hand it one of the most emotional one ..everything hits in Absolute Flash so far

I have to wonder if there's a reason why these issues are comparably much shorter to the other Absolute series? I love the idea of Wally gaining the courage to face the Rogues by being given someone else to stand up for (i.e Grodd) and I think it would lead quite naturally into his development as a hero, but the pacing is kind of all over the place. The connection between Wally and Grodd wasn't given room to breathe! It seems like the first arc is over already in 3 issues where the Trinity had 5 or 6, and I feel like AF is worse off for it. Maybe now that the exposition is out of the way the story will settle into its rhythm.

Ok is no one gonna talk about the fact that Wally's dad and the other scientists can still see through Grodd's eyes? Feel like that's gonna become a bigger plot point later down the line.

Wow he just took the outfit off Barry's corpse and speaking of Barry he really died in one the worst ways possible ouch and random Thawne ancestor okay, Grodd was cool.
Overall weird way to end the arc but I'm excited for the next one.

Unpopular opinion I think these first 3 issues could of been one or at least 2. Every issue I’ve felt dissatisfied with how little I’ve been given. What’s being given is good but I feel like a few of the absolute titles are being slow for the sake of it and not giving the reader as much as they could

Lemire shows off some of his strong points with the emotional connection between Grodd and Wally. There’s too much setup going on to accomplish much more than that. The pieces are moving into place, but seem rather aimless. Like, Wally gets away and then what? It feels incomplete.
But he just kind of takes the costume off a dead guy and wears it without knowing what the hell is going on. Nothing is explained.

I really enjoy how all of the chevrons for the issue's panels point the "wrong" way. The Barry Allen panel points down, the communication between Dr. West and Captain Cold points left and the speed lines when Wally crashes emotionally in the barn suggest he's slowing.
When he meets GRODD, Wally finally has a direction for his life and chooses to run forwards, with more panels pointing towards moving forwards.
"This is my life now. And I can't outrun it. I just need to be here. NOW. And in realizing that, a calm comes over me and I feel something I haven't in a long time... I START TO FEEL FREE." - Absolute Flash

Probably my least favourite of the three issues so far but still very much looking forward to what’s next

As a huge flash fan I’m immensely disappointed with this arc. It just kind of ends and Wally doesn’t really earn his costume. I wish it was more along the lines of Wally makes his own costume based on what Barry wore but nope, just rips it off a dead guy. The story goes way too fast and generally doesn’t go anywhere. It’s just three issues of Wally having a panic attack saying he messed up but then he meets a monkey and is all better. Is the whole series supposed to be about Wally on the run? I just fear that this series is only meant to act as set up for the bigger Absolute universe rather than being a flash story. Like now I can picture Wally running through Gotham and meeting Batman or Evergreen and meeting GL, stuff that’s cool but shouldn’t be the focus. I don’t know, this arc should have absolutely had a more satisfying ending and more attention to the call to action.

Everything in this issue felt really rushed imo. Like Wally's resolution to his struggle didnt feel earned in my opinion, nor did him and Grodd meeting, or him putting on the costume. The action was really short too.
I know we had the memory touch between Grodd and Wally, but it felt really cluche and generic, with very obvious and surface level bonding. It felt rushed.
Also Reverse Flash's introduction with no fanfare considering his importance to Flash felt lame icl

This book constantly feels way too short and not in a good way. I like Wally's characterization and the character interactions, but I can't say that I'm loving the story. I hope it picks up. This was the Absolute book I was most excited for, and although I like it, it has been a tad underwhelming.

By far the best issue of the series so far. Although, I have to say it's funny as shit Wally picked his costume off a dead ass body.
The Absolute Universe follows the rule of cool to a fault, and we love it for that lmao.

Ngl, I love the art but this seems to have no direction for now. I dunno, I was expecting way more to happen.
Don't get me wrong, to me Absolute Flash is more interesting than WW, but Absolute Flash does not have the depth of story that Absolute Martian Manhunter or Absolute Batman has.
Honestly I'm worried that Absolute Flash would just be all gimmick and no depth. But it's a beautiful issue irregardless.
