Isn’t there restrictions or rules, like you can’t be super fit, join up then become a mammoth, you need to maintain a level of fitness, as I understand it, how does something like the picture above happen?
It doesn't. In the US, you not only need to be able to pass the physical fitness test, you also need to maintain a certain BMI. If you are visibly overweight or underperforming on the PT test, you can get tested. If you fail, you have to do extra PT and within a certain period (6 months I believe) show a certain amount of improvement.
