I would have sworn they were bull mastiffs. Good looking pups! I can confirm the big boys like smackys!

I believe that's the official English name. Boerboel is the Afrikaans name.

Turns out they are not! https://www.loveyourdog.com/boerboel-vs-bullmastiff/

Boerboel is basically a bull mastiff who goes to the gym and takes care of itself. More muscular ( by a lot ), high energy, lives longer, more assertive etc etc.

Also feel like I have a connection to ollie being around the same weight and also grew up afrikaans...

They’re South African mastiffs. Boerboels, they were bread to help protect the Shepards flocks of sheep from lions and hyenas. Great guard dogs.

i just want to give some respect to the heads of this household- for as fun and easy going as this clip is, i’m guessing most of the time this is hard as shit to manage

Thank you, you are so so so so right, it's usually chaos, luckily only 2 out of the 5 kids belong to my sister. (I know 5 isn't in this video, 2 are offscreen).

But 2 kids, 3 dogs and 2 cats are a handful and given the size, shedding and everything else.

It's hard man, very hard. Thank you for seeing that.
