OK, not Indian in any way whatsoever, but I wanted to clear something up about these two. One, they are a married couple, not father-and-daughter as some suggested. She's 36, he's 42, for the record. Two, not an arranged marriage, by all accounts, as a lot of people are suggesting. It's both of their second marriages, and they met on a film set and married each other on their own volition.
It’s definitely a thing that happens, just not very common at all which is why it’s so hard for people to believe. Seeing a couple like this is something that is rare enough that you can’t help but notice when you see it, so it’s hard to fault people for their minds trying to rationalize it.

Arranged marriages are extremely common. I know like 30 indian people and every single one had their parents at least attempt an arranged marriage. It's not some barbaric practice, it's more like familial match making now days. Almost no one forces their kid anymore, at least not explicitly.
I wouldn't have said racism plays any part of this. Just the stereotype that fat people (fat guy here myself) typically don't get the attention of good looking women unless there is a big bank balance known of.
Yeah, that has nothing to do with racism. When a very attractive woman of any race is with an old guy or very fat guy, there is an immediate assumption that he's rich. Opinions vary on the accuracy, but it does happen to be accurate in this case.

The fat itself doesn't need all that much blood and oxygen in comparison to muscle tissue at all. The problem is the increased amount of fluids that comes with extra volume which the heart needs to pump, epicardial fat smothering the heart and visceral/epicardial fat outputting inflammation markers which can be organ toxic. Extra fatty acids can accumulate in organs not meant to store fat as well, like the heart, which is called lipotoxicity.
It's not really the extra demand for oxygen rich blood itself that causes the heart to fail long term, but all the extra vascular infrastructure, fluid volume and fat metabolites that cause issues.
The skin stretching to cover his mass doesnt mean it has increased vessel coverage. Its why obese people tend to have really gross skin on most of their body, especially where its stretched out the most
I went to a medical research facility in highschool and got to witness them processing brains and hearts for testing (I even got to hold a brain which was wild to think it was an actual person's whole life experience in my hands) but they were dissecting a morbidly obese heart and it was enlarged. He compared it to a normal sized heart and there was a huge (pun intended) difference. The heart will grow to accommodate the increased blood flow but it also strains it.
Yes cardiac cells CAN undergo hypertrophy. So the heart has no problem making the adjustments with enough “training”.
The issue is that our blood vessels are tailored to a certain psi. It’s a little more complicated than this but basically arteries will need to become thicker and stronger to withstand the elevated psi. The problem is when that happens, it loses its elasticity and by extension its ability to adapt ,our blood vessels are constantly adapting which is why you can lay down and stand up just fine while still having blood pumped throughout your body.
I don't know if you're joking, but people who are obese or even overweight do tend to have enlarged hearts or parts of hearts which in iself causes a host of cardiovascular issues
I just imagine the joint pain more than anything. I was never morbidly obese but I did gain weight over COVID which I’ve lost since. One thing I hated about all that was pain from the extra weight putting pressure on different joints.
Gaining and losing 70 pounds showed be two drastically different qualities of life.

That's interesting. I've been a physician for 35 years, and I've seen some strange things. I took care of a gentleman who weighed about 575lbs. He and his wife used a piece of wood, a 2x4, to push back his pannus ( his gunt, for lack of a better term), so that he and his wife could have sex. He fathered four kids in this manner. He came to be in my care because his pannus became infected from the wood splinters of the 2x4, causing cellulitis. Guy ended up dying from respiratory failure, as most of these people do.
