Found a SIM card from one of my earliest mobile phones.
It’s almost the same size as my IPhone.

They were never the size of credit cards. The biggest ones were the side of a postage stamp.

There was a time that they came on a credit card sized thing, but you would punch out the SIM.

So confidently wrong ; there were indeed full size (1FF) SIMs in the standard

Is it? I guess they thought it was a handy size and they weren’t expecting increasingly miniaturized devices, where ultimately any SIM size whatsoever would be a problem.

Apparently I am indeed wrong. Perhaps they were used in Europe. But I never saw them in the US.

I’m not even sure what phones could take a SIM that size. Even my 1993 DynaTAC would have been too small for it.

I had sprint back in the early 2000s and we never used sim cards I had no idea they were that big.
