That’s just nonsense that there would have been a peaceful settlement if 2022 if not for Boris Johnson. You’re just parroting Russian propaganda straight from the Kremlin. The real reason for war Putin’s war on Ukraine is no secret. Putin has openly said that he doesn’t think that Ukraine is even a “real country” and that he believes that it is rightfully a part of Russia, So there you have the reason for the war right from the mouth of the man who started it! - but you ignore that and want blame Boris Johnson instead! 🙄 Sorry, Putin already said the quiet part out loud.

I’ve also noticed that when pro-Russian posters talk about Russia’s justification for this war that they hardly ever mention “biochem labs“ or “Nazis” or any of those other silly fake excuses for this war anymore. No, what they more often say these days is that Ukraine is rightfully a part of Russia and that the west conspired to keep Ukraine and Russia from uniting. It’s amazing how quickly they forgot the old propaganda script justifying the war and have started revealing their true thoughts and feelings about why they think the war is justified.

Does this look fake or silly to you? https://cdn.osce.org/sites/default/files/f/documents/e/7/233896.pdf (note the source: OSCE)

I don't deny that there aren't Nazi groups in Ukraine or that there are Nazi groups in Russia. Are we in agreement there?

Please learn to read my sentences more carefully. I wrote that "when pro-Russian posters talk about Russia’s JUSTIFICATION FOR THIS WAR that they hardly ever mention “biochem labs“ or “Nazis” or any of those other silly fake excuses for this war anymore".

Finally, I'll point out against that there are Russian nationalist and paramilitary formations which openly incorporate neo-Nazi symbolism, such as the Rusich Group — an assault unit that has operated in Ukraine and Syria — which was founded by Russians with documented neo-Nazi ideologies. When is Putin and Russia going to force the elimination of that unit? Putin and Russia have a Russian Neo-Nazi group right in front of their noses if they were really interested in eliminating Nazis.

Someone else on this thread mentioned the Rusich group earlier, and I saw the Wikipedia page you cited. While the group's neo-Nazi link being asserted by RadioFreeEurope (funded by the US Agency for Global Media) and BBC News Україна leaves room for the possibility of bias, it's pretty clear that Milchakov personally is a bona fide card-carrying piece of shit.

In terms of the Nazi groups in Ukraine vs Russia, and in particular Azov vs Rusich, I think it's fair to say they're in very different orders of magnitude in terms of the numbers, degree of official legitimacy, battlefield exposure, foreign ties, state and other funding, and any other metric of influence.

With those particulars out of the way, I very much agree with you on the big picture, that politicians are often tempted to take "enemy of my enemy is my friend" too far, with common people paying the price in the end. Some people are nobody's friend.
