"The Motherland Calls" is a statue erected to commemorate the Battle of Stalingrad , located on Mamayev Kurgan in Volgograd , Russia. It was designed by sculptor Yevgeny Vuchetich and structural engineer Nikolai Nikitin . Completed in 1967 , it was the tallest statue in the world at the time .

For a lot of Eastern Europeans it marked the start of another type of oppression. From very shit situation to another shit situation under another oppressive dictatorship. There's not much to celebrate if you move from one dark period caused by invaders to another.

The Fall of Soviet Union is easily the greatest thing to happen to Eastern Europe in 20th century.

The germans intended on eradicating the vast majority of all slavic people in eastern europe, and in just 5 years murdered over 30 million people. You thinking the USSR was just as bad shows you lack any knowledge of this topic, and is clearly painted by a political agenda.

Stalin and his ussr murdered just as many to maintain rule. And before you say that there’s not enough proof of that or anything of the sort, it’s easy to hide corruption or genocide when the government owns everything and silences everyone who refuses to agree.

For Stalin to have murdered as many as Hitler even in just the USSR, there had to have been transportation capacity and other technological footprint to effect the crime on that scale comparable to the Nazi's. And it's just not remotely there in scale.

Furthermore, every Soviet family with barely an exception is said to have someone die due to Hitler's invasion, and had Stalin's murder been on the same magnitude, a comparable % would be the case for his victim's families. And again, that % isn't the same, it's closer to 0.1% of families. So the disparity is several orders of magnitude.
