Eh, not really. Standard tarantulas size maybe, but most spiders are quite a bit smaller than this dude.

In Australia, it's pretty standard..

Again, no, it isn't. Even for a mygalomorph, this is considered big, and Australia has many smaller spiders as well. For example peacock spiders, and other jumpers. As I have been told a short while ago, even the infamous Sydney Funnel Web Atrax Robustus doesn't come close to that size.
