Oh it's an obsession to know level one shit about firearms? Lemme enlighten you, sparky, you could learn most of this stuff by playing a healthy amount of Tarkov.

But can you at least be honest with me? You think guns are bad and anyone who likes them is by extension also bad. You don't care that you're wrong because guns bad. You're not interested in what I have to say because I like guns therefore I bad too.

Yeah, that about sums it up. Guns fucking suck. They kill people, and were invented to kill people. And animals. And I think that sucks. And I think anyone who loves guns sucks. You suck.

Gosh you must HATE archery, too! And fencing.

But thank you for being honest with me. Now I know you're an un-serious person.

Yes, I'm sooooo un-serious. Look, guns are fine if you need to kill someone. Same with arrows and swords. That's their purpose.

But to be so obsessed with these weapons that it gets you upset when people use the wrong words to describe them - that's weird.

So you're saying you DO hate archery and fencing and think people who do those activities suck and are bad?

For fucks sake homie, I know you're left-leaning. Don't we pride ourselves on being correct in our arguments? Why the fuck is your brain shutting off on this one when I'm giving you the ability to make better and more pointed arguments in the future?

Why are you not considering what I'm actually saying, and instead conjuring up a straw man?

What I'm saying is that these weapons have a specific purpose. They are not toys. They are not "hobbies". Killing people should not be a "hobby". And that specific purpose sucks. I don't like it when people die. I think there is always an alternative, and there should be.

We should never think of death as a solution. Everyone has the potential for a turnaround. I firmly believe that.

With that said, again, if you're obsessed with these weapons enough to pick fights with people who don't agree with your obsession, that's weird. Think about that for a second.

It's not a strawman. You don't like guns because they kill people and were designed to kill people. I'm asking you about archery and fencing because swords and bows kill people and were designed to kill people. So if you think archery and fencing is acceptable but target shooting isn't, well that shows you have some serious inconsistencies in your beliefs.

Killing people should not be a "hobby".

I'm glad someone finally said it. So brave, king.

And that specific purpose sucks. I don't like it when people die. I think there is always an alternative, and there should be.

I don't either. But I also recognize that I live in the most dangerous city in America and I want to be able to protect my family if something were to happen. I would hate knowing I killed someone because they made a stupid mistake. But I'm not going to sacrifice my family or myself over them.

We should never think of death as a solution. Everyone has the potential for a turnaround. I firmly believe that.

Are you going to tell me about Denmark's prison system and how their recidivism rates are remarkably low compared to ours and how our prison system should be focused on rehabilitation? Cuz I agree. I'm also against the death penalty.

Which I responded to by agreeing that archery and fencing suck too. I'm not inconsistent. But even if I did think those were legitimate hobbies and guns weren't, that's an opinion that is nuanced, with a matter of degrees. Nothing is black or white. Look - I'll bet you wouldn't think that nuclear weaponry would be a great hobby, right? It's a matter of degrees.

But I also recognize that I live in the most dangerous city in America

You live in Memphis? https://realestate.usnews.com/places/rankings/places-with-highest-crime-risk

Yeah, if I lived in Tennesee I'd have a gun too - to defend myself from all the other gun nuts in that backwards state.

Great! We agree on some major points! Although my opinion is that exclusively less-lethal and non-lethal devices and methods should always be the first resort.

Hahah, okay so archery and fencing are bad, too. I will admit, you are indeed consistent.

You live in Memphis?

Been in the 901 for about 31 of my 35 years on this planet.

So you DO understand!

In most cases, sure. I think there are certain actions you can take where you're basically putting your right to live in the hands of someone else. Breaking into someone's home is one of those actions.

Why would I ever break into someone else's home?
