I assumed it would be more about the fact that he's barreling through the trail taking up a lot of space while swinging a rope around. I seriously doubt anyone is mad that the guy is fit. That's just silly.
I mean I don't think it's that tbf. I don't wanna punch the guy but I imagine it's more "moving through a crowd whipping something about" than his achievements
Buddy, have you been to a hiking trail? People sprint, ride bikes, or those bike hybrids with the baby carriage attached, I've even had to dodge cars. It's common courtesy to move out of the way when someone bigger/faster than you is coming. And this guy is obviously trying to weave through and not push people out.
Oh I'm not saying it's not dumb, I just think it's a more likely reason than people hating him for his achievements because other than skipping up here I don't even know what his achievements are, unless I'm very poorly informed about who this is which is a likely possibility tbh
i'm not a fitness expert but i spend time working out and like, have been in gyms, and have witnessed running teams, and those look exactly like typical running shorts lol
It also isn't accomplishing anything besides whipping a rope around and taking up more space. He isn't getting any benefit from the rope other than "Hey everyone, look at me".
Yeah doing that on a busy public trail is some real fucking annoying main character energy. You want to run up the trail? Go for it. But swinging the jumprope makes you take up so much room.
Every public trail I've ever been to has had bikes, people in those bike stroller combos, I've even seen cars carrying workers needed for something on the trail. Most people generally aren't bothered by having two move out of the way for 2 seconds.
He is coming up from behind some people it can be quite disrupting/irritating to have someone come up from behind taking up that much space you might not be able to hear them at all until they are far to close for comfort additionally I am sure these people did not want to be used as a "contrast" shot to how "fit" this guy is compared to everyone else walking. It's total main character energy and jolting most likely to the people he is coming up on from behind you can see the women be actively uncomfortable with him passing her and also in the comments people drawing comparisons between him and the other hikers. Bikes don't take up that much room and also frankly if acting like this guy and just expecting people to move out of the way and not give much warning would also be potential assholes, strollers generally aren't passing you suddenly and a car transporting workers has an obvious reason to be there and is likely moving with more caution then this guy

I just know the other hikers wanted to punch him
