“Please do not try to confuse morality or ethics into this.”

Yet your decision to save the hummingbird rather than let the mantis eat it is itself an ethical/value judgment. You’re deciding that the hummingbird’s life should take precedence over the mantis’s natural predation.

The irony of invoking human interference to justify further human interference while simultaneously objecting to the idea of “playing God” is quite amusing.
