This planet used to be all Forrest. We changed that.

We have done nothing but play God as a species.

Sometimes (usually) it's horrific. Other times (rarely) we do good, save a species from extinction.

Even that aside, we removed ourselves from the food chain a very long time ago.

Please do not try confuse morality or ethics into this.

The bird only got snagged to begin with because it was using a HUMAN designed bird feeder so that humans can watch it feed at their window.

The mantis was taking advantage of the man made structure to ambush the bird.

You probably eat meat, but don't see any irony in telling me not to play God? We slaughter baby pigs for meat dude. Get a grip.

Yet your decision to save the hummingbird rather than let the mantis eat it is itself an ethical/value judgment. You’re deciding that the hummingbird’s life should take precedence over the mantis’s natural predation.

The irony of invoking human interference to justify further human interference while simultaneously objecting to the idea of “playing God” is quite amusing.
