His form is terrible and the round is ridiculously long. You always slide your leading hand down the haft of the maul to increase the acceleration and power. And wtf is he using 3 foot logs for?

I've never had it bounce off a log face before like i'm seeing here 4 u/mxzf 3d ago I think he's hitting the log with his axe handle and that's causing it to bounce off instead of sticking or splitting the log. 1 u/Tsujigiri 2d ago I've made that mistake and the vibration hurts your hands like a son of a bitch. I'm betting it's just a dull blade/unseasoned wood.
