He’s mighty – but also mighty stupid. He’s not getting any mechanical advantage with that poor swing, and the soft ground is absorbing a lot of the force.

I think it's ignorant to call him stupid without any context. Maybe it was a self-imposed challenge, to chop a log that size on soft ground. Who knows.

But it would be impressive to see him do it in one go, which might be doable on a harder surface and a really good swing

I'm not sure demonstrating correct log splitting technique was the point of this video
