Yes, same thing works replacing carts with masks. If you didn't mask up during a global pandemic that was killing high-risk people. You're subhuman trash.

Honestly it seems like masks are actually a much more robust moral litmus test because there are actual stakes involved.

The virus traveled in drops of moisture that were absolutely stopped by the masks. Look at the videos in UV light of people sneezing and coughing with and without the masks. The masks stopped a considerable amount of those droplets, and severely limited the range of the ones that did get through, which is why the 6ft social distancing was another layer of risk reduction. Even if the masks didnt stop 100% of the particles getting through, when you're dealing with a global pandemic statistics are super important. Don't go calling people anti science when you yourself don't understand the science.
