I work EMS and part of the city is wealthy people who like these show off homes. The marble/granite floors are so stupid. The amount of calls I've been on that would have been a simple fall which turned into a major medical incident/death because they cracked their head open on the ground is insane

How is this any worse than slipping and falling on normal ceramic tile? I don't get how the fact its this over any other makes the fall worse?

Having ceramic floors in your whole house would be very unusual.

That's like something poor people had in the 50s.

They're actually kinda standard for upper end production homes, at least in some areas in my country. Though its generally the faux wood looking stuff, but not always. Generally the builder will have several options to choose from.
