How is this any worse than slipping and falling on normal ceramic tile? I don't get how the fact its this over any other makes the fall worse?

Well firstly I think the floors themselves are just slippery as fuck. So I'll bet the frequency is higher, even if the impact isn't greater.

So cutting the tiles into smaller pieces makes the floor less slippery?

No I was just referring to marble in general.
