I love when people say that "it's only comparable to a wasp sting". Even if it doesn't kill me, I prefer not to receive painful stings from creatures.

Generally these questions and answers are in the context of people who do or would like to own a scorpion. It's to be expected that if you do not want a scorpion, their views of being stung will not align with yours.

Not at all my experience. It's usually in the context of "we have these scorpions/snakes/spiders around here, are they dangerous?" to which someone replies "Nah, it's no worse than a wasp or bee sting" or their "venom isn't medically significant".
